A Financial Tale of Two Potential Vice Presidents
The New York Times ^ | Aug. 9, 2024, 6:02 p.m. ET | Sharon LaFraniere

After JD Vance was elected to the Senate from Ohio in 2022, he and his wife bought a five-bedroom house — their third home — for $1.6 million in Alexandria, Va., not far from the Capitol. Their real estate agent told a local magazine that the buyers paid in cash.

When Tim Walz was elected governor of Minnesota four years earlier, his family was living in a heavily mortgaged Cape Cod-style house, with one room rented out, about 90 miles from Minneapolis. After moving into the governor’s mansion, they sold the house for $304,000 — less than the asking price.

These real estate transactions are just one example of the vast gulf in wealth between the two vice-presidential candidates. On their tax return for 2023, the Walzes reported $299,000 in income, more than they had declared in years. Mr. Vance, a multimillionaire, had more than that in just his checking accounts the year before, according to his most recent financial disclosure form.

That distinction could come into play in battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, where both campaigns are hoping the vice-presidential candidates can present an Everyman appeal to Midwestern and rural voters.

But one running mate is rich and the other far from it — and Mr. Walz, a former teacher, is already emphasizing the difference. Appearing with Vice President Kamala Harris, in Philadelphia on Tuesday, he said Mr. Vance “had his career funded by Silicon Valley millionaires,” adding: “Come on, that’s not what Middle America is.”

Mr. Vance, former President Donald J. Trump’s running mate, has been campaigning this week in the same states as Ms. Harris and Mr. Walz. Luke Schroeder, a spokesman for Mr. Vance, said the senator “earned his own success.” He continued: “Tim Walz knows better. His insult of Senator Vance is an insult to every American who...”

A year in office and Nancy will show him how to fix that.

So...a question for voters: Do you want to elect people intelligent enough to go out & make their fortune, or do you want to elect people who get into political office to make their fortune?

It has already been pointed out that Waltz has a small fortune in Government pensions.

I certainly don’t want one who lies about his military service or blames failing a DUI FST on being deaf.

Thanks for holding your nose and posting the daily stench from the traitorous NYT.

Know thy enemy.

Walz doesn’t need typical investments when the Communist Chinese have him in their pocket.

If we are in a contest to see who has the most humble beginnings, Vance easily has that one sown up. He just happened to go into a line of work that has been much more lucrative than Walz’s. There is nothing wrong with being a teacher, but no one expects to get rich from it. Vance also wrote a bestselling book, which paid him well. He is wealthier than Walz, so she him.

I have wondered when they would pull this up. Never mind kablabla's $65,000 gold necklace whe wears while pimping for contributions that she demands instead of asks for.

The religion of the left is fear greed and envy. Without those three they have noting.

However, having been exposed to investment banking and bankers I find the whole lot reprehensible. Such a background is not a great recommendation of a person in my view. They are the most cut-throat duplicitous people I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. They are poster children for it being easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than a rich man into Heaven. So far as making money is concerned, it is better than having a printing press in the basement.

Vance wrote a best selling novel that was turned in to a movie. Even Bernie the Red says that’s OK.

“JD Vance ... bought a five-bedroom house ... for $1.6 million in Alexandria ... paid in cash.”

Tim Walz ... was living in a heavily mortgaged Cape Cod-style house ... they sold the house for $304,000 — less than the asking price.”

And the N.Y. Slimes want the voters to trust Tampon Tim with our tax money?

article trying to show a meager walz living off a teachers pension , no assets, no investments, no business ventures, he’s just a regular guy like me and you.

I did a guesstimate of the annual retirement income of Tampax Timmy A-Walz and his wife:

  $100,000 US House pension
  $ 60,000 Social Security [his and his wife's]
  $ 40,000 annual compounded interest [403(b) - 2 accounts]
  $ 40,000 gubernatorial pension
  $ 30,000 National Guard retirement pay
  ========
  $270,000 total annually

Not bad scratch, if you can get it. $135 an hour, retired.

We won't even talk about their gold-plated Cadillac health care packages.

Plus, they sold their house and are living in a rental house while the Minnesota governor's mansion is being renovated.

The biggest tax ticks ever spotted in the wild...

Trump and Vance want everyone to become as wealthy as they choose-legally. And they want government to make it easier, not be an obstacle.

Democrats say they want everyone to only get to the middle class. And they intend to make it impossible while blaming Republicans for your struggle.

And what I understand, the book was made into a movie, so J.D. Vance probably received money from that avenue, as well.

From the article: he said Mr. Vance “had his career funded by Silicon Valley millionaires,”
_______________

Seriously? It is the Dems who get most of the Silicon Valley contributions.
