Arrowhead water bottler ordered to stop operations in San Bernardino Mountains

The federal government has backed up California state regulators in ordering the company that bottles Arrowhead water to stop drawing from the San Bernardino Mountains.

Though BlueTriton Brands draws from springs in the mountains that have been used for bottled water since 1906, environmental activists have claimed the removal of that water is harming wildlife, particularly Strawberry Creek.

About a year ago, California’s Water Resources Control Board ordered BlueTriton to stop using the water, which flows through public lands like the San Bernardino National Forest.

Would the ruling on Chevron have any relevance to this?

I bought a 12-pack of those once. Can’t remember if I finished them, but I remember that they tasted worse than city-water. Haven’t bought them since.

Just like destroying dams that have been in place for a hundred years, they pull this crap now. What utter idiocy.

Except this is Nestle. Their CEO openly says water in not a human right and that every drop of water on the planet should be owned by corporations.

But the Forest Service is making some bad decisions now. A couple of years ago Tombstone Az had a water supply line damages. It was over 100 years old. They would only allow it to be repaired with hand tools.

Lunatics are running things.

Stupid and irrelevant comment given the context of the thread.

Ever since Nestle bought Arrowhead the quality of their water has degraded.

Conservation means using a resource in a responsible way, not stop using it altogether.
This is knee-jerk environmentalism as it's finest, to heck with people's needs, private businesses, livelihoods and expensive already paid for infrastructure.

I remember Arrowhead and Sparklets were pretty good in 1973, but so were McDonald’s hamburgers.

“Water from San Bernardino?

Oh please, San Bernardino COUNTY. The largest county in the country land wise. With mountains at 9000 elevation feet that drops plenty of snow = water for Arrowhead to have existed for 115 years.

I can’t speak for the idiot that thought it tasted like $hit. To each his own.

“but I remember that they tasted worse than city-water.”

Thank you. I’m glad that I’m not crazy. To me, “Arrowhead” tastes like (bad) well water. Honestly, the brands that simply filter municipal water taste better

Thanks for the chamber of commerce response. San Bernardino is at the base of those mountains. So many parolees in San Bernardino they should fence it off. The best part of the county is the Colorado river, where you can cross a bridge and leave the state.

Sounds like someone at Arrowhead didn’t pay off the corrupt California state regulators. That’s too bad.

I just bought some tonight at Costco. It’s my preferred brand mainly because I grew up in San Bernardino and that arrowhead could be seen clearly throughout the city…provided there was no smog, of course. I read the label the other day and they actually take water from about 6 springs throughout SoCal, not just Arrowhead, which surprised me.
