A state of emergency has been declared in the Russian border region of Kursk as troops continue to battle against an alleged Ukrainian incursion. President Putin has accused Ukraine of a "large-scale provocation."
Russia said on Wednesday that it was continuing to battle Ukrainian troops that crossed into the border region of Kursk a day earlier, with a state of emergency declared by the regional governor and security tightened around a nearby nuclear power plant.
"To eliminate the consequences of enemy forces coming into the region, I took the decision to introduce a state of emergency in the Kursk region from 7 August," said Kursk's acting Governor Alexei Smirnov on Wednesday evening.

That's "The Putin" to you and your Elenskyy.
“You guys dont understand much about a war like this:”
I didn’t say they were trying to hold it. I was just questioning their ability to get back.
German Ardennes offensive? This should go as well, at first, like that one.
DW propaganda. The attack by Ukraine will be quickly repulsed, with significant losses.
President Putin has accused Ukraine of a “large-scale provocation.”
This is laughable. This dope needs a bullet.
You are the poster child for FR’s need to implement an ignore function.
Every time you post the internet gets dumber.
Be sure to thank them Marcus - they are giving their lives for you. Gotta fill the propaganda pipeline!
>>>>You guys dont understand much about a war like this: They have no intention of holding Russian Territory. They just want the Russian people to see what a waste of time this Special Operation has been. And they want to blow up some Russian stuff before the railroads collapse.<<<<
According to you, the UKE’s aren’t fighting for territory, they’re sacrificing human lives to teach the Russian people a lesson on inefficiency.
Meanwhile, Russia keeps gaining territory daily in Ukraine.
It's just a matter of how much more territory Ukraine loses until Zelensky or whoever ends up being in charge unconditionally surrenders.
And, you're a liar. Everything that has happened in Ukraine is a result of our meddling. We fomented an illegal coup that drove a democratically-elected President from office and that setoff a civil war.
The ONLY victims in Ukraine were the ethnic Russians in Donetsk and Lugansk, who were subjected to persecution and genocide at the hands of Ukrainian nationalists and neo-Nazis that came to power illegitimately.
This is where lies like the ones you're spewing come to die.
81 years ago another army attacked Kursk. That didn’t turn out so well.
Putin’s reinforcements being sent to the annexed Kursk villages are being wiped out by drones and Ukraine special forces tonight in their transport vehicles.
Are the Ukes really concerned their supply of weapons from us will be cut off if they break these “rules”?
That would win those Russian peasant hearts and minds.
The EU weapons come with the same string.
What I remember is that Russia helped the USA defeat the Nazis and the Ucriane hid the Nazis and are still doing that. My memory is clear. Yes I remember all of WWII. It has shaped most of my life.
“Putin’s justification for invading Ukraine, claiming that the “denazification” of the country was “one of the dumbest things I’d ever heard.”
^
FReepers are fed that notion every day Ukraine is mentioned, so Carlson’s comment has hit home...
“What I remember is that Russia helped the USA defeat the Nazis and the Ukraine hid the Nazis and are still doing that.”

What Ukraine remembers, is HOLODOMOR...
Shouldn’t Ukraine use those resources in the east to slow the Russian advance
—
Yep Russia took 168sq km in several months as opposed to UKR taking 350sq km in 2 days. Russia is wining! Putin is a genius!
Cutting off supplies in the Kursk region will not only slow the Russian advance to the south, but likely halt it entirely
shamefully wasted so many precious military resources
—
Not to mention the 586,000 troops wasted.
