A state of emergency has been declared in the Russian border region of Kursk as troops continue to battle against an alleged Ukrainian incursion. President Putin has accused Ukraine of a "large-scale provocation."
Russia said on Wednesday that it was continuing to battle Ukrainian troops that crossed into the border region of Kursk a day earlier, with a state of emergency declared by the regional governor and security tightened around a nearby nuclear power plant.
"To eliminate the consequences of enemy forces coming into the region, I took the decision to introduce a state of emergency in the Kursk region from 7 August," said Kursk's acting Governor Alexei Smirnov on Wednesday evening.

If they can’t seize it, the Ukes should bomb it. Use some of those American missiles sold to them by the Biden Crime Family.
Ukraine is a fool.
They’re not allowed to use them in Russia.

Trent Telenko claims that this is a corps size incursion, i.e. tens of thousands of men, as opposed to the hundreds who entered previously. Given the almost complete lack of Russian presence there, combat unit-wise, this Ukrainian force may be sufficient to take Kursk, although probably not hold it. Symbolically, the fall of Kursk would be terrible for Putin’s image. Practically, it’s questionable whether Ukraine can hold it. But the objective of choking off supplies to the Russian troops around Kharkov, and perhaps forcing them to surrender, may be attainable.
Bomb a nuclear power plant? There's already one Chernobyl in the region, they don't need a second.
A resident of Sudzha basically confirming Ukrainian presence inside the town:
“I was just in the center. Everything is more or less intact. The prosecutor’s office is destroyed. The city administration is flying the Ukrainian flag. There are many soldiers and equipment. A soldier called me over, checked my documents, and wasn’t rude. I asked, “What should we do?” He said, “Learn the Ukrainian anthem and prepare for a referendum.” To be honest, I no longer care which flag we live under. The main thing is to have peace. If our own can’t protect us, maybe the Ukrainians can.”

What is the point of this? PR stunt?
Shouldn’t Ukraine use those resources in the east to slow the Russian advance
Excellent news
Nearly 500 Russian conscripts taken prisoner by Ukraine so far is not a PR stunt.
Next up: Belgorod, Bryansk.
It’s all very dramatic—and also a shameful waste of precious military resources.
They should be using those manpower resources for defense
