Unfortunately, the data doesn't support that notion (I didn't know how it compared until a few moments ago; I expected the rates to be much more disparate, but tends to support the notion when viewing the countries with rates well below the lowest in the US, i.e., Georgia).

Actually, my wife’s hospital system has seen such a drop in deliveries that they shut down Labor and Delivery at one of their “rural” hospitals. (Of course, in southern New England, rural is a relative term—you are never THAT far out of the boondocks.) The point being that deliveries are down and staffing is difficult.
