Registering to vote is unnecessarily complicated. Here’s 1 simple solution: [VIDEO]

This new automatic voter registration (AVR) system can enhance voting accuracy, reduce fraud, and give more people access to democracy. Here’s how it works.

If the unregistered eligible voter population in California was its own state, it would be the 25th largest state in the country. Compare this to Oregon, where 93.5% of eligible voters are registered, thanks to a new automatic voter registration program called Secure AVR.

The process is simple – when attending appointments at places like the DMV, eligible citizens are automatically registered. If uninterested, users can choose to opt out, but otherwise, registration takes no effort. This way, one of the hardest parts of voting is automatically completed, leading to a more secure system, and even more participating citizens.

Three voter rights activists – Sam Oliker-Friedland, Amanda Gonzales, and Molly Woon – share their support for Secure AVR and the benefits it has already brought to U.S. voting systems. This new process simplifies voter registration, making it easier for eligible citizens to participate in democracy, all while engaging millions of new voters and updating highly outdated processes.

Yes by all means let’s encourage zero-effort people to vote.

No thanks.

Registering to vote should take deliberate effort and require unimpeachable proof of citizenship.

Voting should occur on one day, in person, with verified identity of the voter.

BIGGEST PROBLEM, IMO, ===ILLEGAL INVADERS ARE BEING GIVEN DRIVER’S LICENSES-—AND THEY CAN HAVE A “HELPER” FOR THE WRITTEN TEST.

Somehow I don’t think the clerks at the DMV will be making much effort examining documents to see just who is a citizen, and who isn’t.

Did you ever see the CGI cartoon movie ‘Zootopia’?

All the characters are different kinds of animals depending on their particular jobs.

The DMV clerks are sloths..................

It was under Clinton I think that the GOP capitulated to this notion that it’s vital that we get every simpleton in the country to vote and that is should be as easy as drawing your next breath. If you can’t manage the extremely simple process of registering g, you’re to stupid and/or apathetic, and I don’t want you voting

To start with, voting is a responsibility as a citizen. With that in mind it happens to be the citizens duty to register to vote, not a free for all. If you are to lazy to find a way to the county courthouse and register that is not my problem nor the rest of the citizens in that county. Yes, every citizen has the right to vote but there is one hoop called registering so they know what precinct you are in so you can vote up and down the correct ballot for your precinct. If you are to stupid to follow this simple procedure then maybe you shouldn’t vote. Better yet we should not allow anybody on public assistance the right to vote because they are now a ward of the state. If they are off public assistance for one full year prior to an election they can register to vote within the prescribed guidelines of registering and that means no same day registering because the precincts need to have totals so they know how many ballots they will need printed. Having the right to vote and having someone hold your hand is two different things which leads to voter fraud.

You have to be able to fill out a form with basic information like your address and date of birth. People who find this complicated should not be voting.

Registering is already checking one block in a driver’s license or ID application. Want more low information voters than that?

There is no method to weed out illegals.

I know they keep saying “eligible voters” but that is simply bs. If you qualify to get a DL then according to this you will be registered.

That is a huge NO. Get the DMV out of it completely. If you are a citizen and eligible to vote [by virtue of being a citizen with no restrictions such as being a convicted felon], register and do so.

AND, STOP mail-in voting except by overseas military. With early voting at manned polling stations, there is no need to have mailed ballots, absentee or otherwise.

"automatically register 16 and 17 year olds when they get their license."

Will poll workers check their age when they vote?

When attending appointments at places like the DMV, eligible citizens are automatically registered.

Do tell deary, sounds great now tell me how eligibility is determined, established and verified?

Let me guess, no record check, no ID requirement, no citizenship verification, no residency check.

Surely only an eligible US citizen and authorized voter would dare go to the DMV. Ineligible aliens, out of state residents and convicted felons would never want to operate a vehicle.
