I miss that music. There’s nothing on pop music radio one wants to listen to anymore.
Saw them many times T and T
Rap is such shyt compared to that old Motown sound.
I grew-up on Motown. It’s still the best!
Singing in heaven now.........................
The Four Tops were such a standout and unique group even for Motown. Their tunes had a kind of a Phil Spector “Wall of Sound” vibe to them compared to the “cleaner” but grittier sounding hits of the other big Motown artists. In contrast to the other groups there, none really took the spotlight or top billing like Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves, or Michael Jackson did (though lead singer Levi Stubbs was the acknowledged and featured lead). In this they were similar to another big act, the Temptations. </i>
Rest in peace, Mr. Duke Fakir, and thanks for all the memories.
R.I.P. you guys were the bomb...
...and yes, your music still holds up.
His mom is also famous. You know, Mother Fakir.
I’ll show myself out.
I was a teenager in the ‘60s when the Four Tops were at their peak and loved their music and the Motown Sound. I was lucky enough to see the original group perform live.
(L - R): Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Renaldo “Obie” Benson, Levi Stubbs, Lawrence Payton
Thanks for the link from another thread. Condolences to family and friends of Duke Fakir. Great music, great memories growing and working in and around Motown.
