Nikita Khrushchev assumed leadership of the Soviet Union after the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953. Khrushchev served as a General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1953 to 1964, and as a Chairman of the Council of Ministers from 1958 to 1964.
Remarkably in 1964, Nikita Khrushchev was forced to leave his post. The Party leadership comprises a special “troika" representatives (Alexey Kosygin, Leonid Brezhnev, and Anastas Mikoyan) deposed Khrushchev. Eventually, Brezhnev assumed the central role among the three. Under his rule, the Soviet Union expanded its sphere of influence to include Southeast Asia, Africa, parts of Central America, and the Caribbean.

On October 14, 1964, after a palace coup orchestrated by his “loyal" protégé and deputy, Leonid Brezhnev, the Central Committee forced Khrushchev to retire from his position as the party’s first secretary and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union because of his “advanced age and poor health." The Communist Party subsequently accused Khrushchev of making political mistakes, such as mishandling the Cuban Missile Crisis and disorganizing the Soviet economy, especially in the agricultural sector. However, Khrushchev considered his own forced retirement a breakthrough and achievement. He did not oppose after he left office, there were no executions after his coup, and his retirement was “negotiated" as between equals.[7] Following his ousting, Khrushchev spent seven years under house arrest. He died at his home in Moscow on September 11, 1971.

These are Masters of Illusion, whose jobs are made easy by virtue of their complete control of the MSM. This has been planned well in advance, that's why they insisted on an early debate to be used as a test run. DJT shouldn't have agreed to a debate until after their convention.
This may be central to one-party politics. I just recently watched the old, “Secrets of War”, narrated by Charlton Heston, on this and that was my thought.
One party means that there is no longer a formal and regular transfer of power. The people, also, have no say as to where and when.
Khrushchev was lucky that he had earlier repudiated Stalin’s atrocities and switched to simply retiring political rivals, rather than having them executed. When Brezhnev struck, it was with retirement and not the gallows.
I agree, there are some similarities here with respect to their downfall.
A significant difference is Khrushchev’s strength. He appeared to be a very strong leader and was in control of his faculties. Whereas Biden appears to be a puppet and obviously not in control of his faculties.
And I do remember Khrushchev pounding his shoe on a podium making threats.
Had the attempt succeeded, Biden would still be in...........
I see a small possibility that there will be a trail from the assassin all the way to Biden giving the green light. It will be “OK” because he was senile. But it won’t “reflect on the party” because Joe has stepped out of the race. I think he may have dropped as a defensive move since his assassination plot failed.
Khrushchev:
1. was a rather abusive guy who rubbed people the wrong way
2. wanted younger people to have a greater say at the top level
3. an old man who really didn’t want his tough job any more

Because it was costing the Soviet too much in shoes.
