What BS! Ukraine was not a threat to Russia. Don't buy into Russian propaganda. This is all about Putin's refusal to accept Ukraine as an independent country and attempting to bring it back to the control of mother Russia. Russia could have a neutral Ukraine today if they would just withdraw. Rather, as so many pro-Russians here have expressed support, Putin wants to slice away Ukrainian territory and make Ukraine subservient to Russia.
It's not all bad and pointless. The military is often the only customer for cutting edge technologies, when no other enterprise can justify the cost. That primes the pump of new prosperity. Further, white man is the most deadly creature to ever walk the face of Earth, or Moon. If all the white men banded together on the same team, the rest of the world would go the way of the American Indians.
