I have my doubts about the validity of this "study". If you've ever spoken with a Southerner, you know that they speak much slower than a fast talking Yankee, yet what they say usually makes much more sense.
I have been that way since I was a kid.
Hasn’t gotten any worse in 72 years.
If I can’t come up with a name right off hand,
it will just pop up in my mind 15 minutes later.
There’s a trick I’ve used all my life.
If I can’t place the name of someone or something I’m trying to remember, I’ll knock my head gently three times with my fist and tell myself I’ll remember it. Later, maybe hours after I’ve forgotten all about it, the name or word I’m trying to recall just pops into my head while I’m not thinking of anything in particular. It’s kind of weird the way it just floats into my mind unattached to anything else; but it almost never fails.
I think I read about it in a magazine many decades ago...
If you quickly recall the name of dead relatives when you see them walking in the room does that mean you are good to go?
:-)
Frequent difficulty finding the right word can signal changes in the brain consistent with...um...well...anyway....
I have a large percentage of English words stuffed away in my head. A few other languages as well...
Some times, it takes me a tick or two to get the right one. I’d upgrade my CPU, but that tech isn’t available quite yet.
Come on, man.
What about “THE IDEA” or “Cornpop”? I think those phrases mean something too.
This is called “Aphasia” and the medical profession is very familiar with this trait ....
Homer Simpson talks about ‘that round eat thing’. Marge asks ‘you mean a spoon’? Bout like me some days.
Heck, I’d just do a web search.
And “anyway”......taterhead says that often
Saying "I vote Democrat" is a dead give away.

NAH-—THE WORD IS “WHATEVER”
I know a guy that is probably a genius and he hardly ever explains something off the cuff without missing a few words that instead become thingies.
It’s pretty frightening. My written/oral skills have always hovered around the 96th - 98th percentile, but in the last couple of years, I sometimes struggle to find a word or put a name to a famous face or situation. Not more than the average person, but a decline in me.
Anyway…..anyway.
Not everyone runs around emitting continous high speed blather.
