Speculation is swirling around President Biden’s political fate — and over who might replace him on the Democratic ticket this fall should he decide to drop out of the race.
Biden has insisted he’s in it to win it, and Vice President Harris would have the inside track on becoming the party’s standard-bearer, but Democratic concerns are growing that his candidacy could cost them the White House and House majority this fall.
Though a highly anticipated Thursday evening press conference after the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., was seen as a better performance for Biden than in recent weeks, the president still stumbled at several points with multiple notable gaffes.
The number of sitting lawmakers calling on the president to withdraw has grown since, and scrutiny is rising on the Democrats who could replace him on the ticket.
Here’s a look at the leading contenders:
Vice President Harris
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
California Gov. Gavin Newsom
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg

Report: Jill's Deep Grudge Against Kamala and How That Factors Into Decision Not to Step Aside.
I think if they try to force Joe out of the race I believe Jill and Hunter will go scorched earth on all Democrats especially the Obama crowd. They have dirt on them too.
Letitia James. AG of NY.
1,2,3,4,8 all losers, it wouldn’t be worthwhile gir the DNC to replace Biden with any of them.
5,6,7??? Any thoughts?
Democrats are so short sighted. Now they'll want to cheat - to go around the rules. And that will backfire worse than anything. Carville is wrong on that move. Keep it within the rules, norms and laws or it's over for the democrat party. People can see their games now - and the backfire in their own people will take them down.
Too many years of using focus groups rather than getting to know their own base.
The “Anybody but Heels-Up Harris” article. The author of the article fails to consider the resulting rage of the angry black woman voter when Harris gets passed over.
Hillary will fly in on her broom.
All of the replacements listed would be great sock puppets for Chairman Obama. Thats the issue.
Good points.
Can see there being no VP for a while.
To run I think she will pick Whitmer.
Have to add Harris is an illegitimate VP.
If they push “Dr.” Jill off too mush there are plenty levers of power they can use to punish Democrats. Joe could pardon all of the J6 political prisoners, executive orders torpedoing beloved DP grift, call for the end of the Ukraine War and stop military aid, or keeping all of the campaign cash - all $91 million. When it comes to the Democratic Party Pedo Joe holds all the cards.
We won’t know until the Central Committee meets (assuming they’re quorate, for those of you who appreciate a ‘Death of Stalin’ allusion).
Does anyone really think the conniving, viperous Hillary Clinton will roll over and let this opportunity pass her by?
The open convention will be hopelessly deadlocked and Hillary, whose right it is and was, will generously put herself forward to save democracy, the world. The delagates will lose their minds in joyful thanksgiving.
Josh Shapiro? They would lose Michigan
It wasn’t that long ago white working class people were the anchor of the Democrat Party. Today the Democrats regard them as extremist, racist nationalists.
I see Fauxahontas didn’t make the list either.
I dont think they are going to pull the trigger on replacing him.
No one wants to be the sacrificial lamb—all of those named have 2028 ambitions. I cannot imagine any of those egos “taking one for the team” a la Bob Dole.
Accordingly, the Party is devoid of any strong, independent-minded leaders.
One look at the list tells us all we need to know about their chances of winning...unless, of course, they steal the election once again.
Short Title: Dems Have No One To Replace Biden With An IQ that Breaks 80 Points.
Of course 80 points is still 10 times more than what biden currently has.
