I've watched (and far too many times, endured) the Macy's Fireworks broadcasts...
...but this year rocked like a New Madrid earthquake.
Musically it was at 30 minute Trump rally. Nothing woke.
"Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" buried in the middle...well after an outstanding rendition of our National Anthem at the beginning with melodic quotations in several musical bridges.
WOW! THEY PLAYED TRUMP’S CAMPAIN SONG!
Wow. I suppose this can be found later on YouTube or Rumble. I’ll have to look for it.
Maybe Macys feels guilty for banning Trump products from their store in 2016 after he said rapists were coming over the border. Oh my, he was right!
The tide is turning!
Except it’s BAD. Comparing it to America the Beautiful is like comparing Stephanie Meyer to JK Rowling.
I mean, I hear ya. Don’t get me wrong. And God bless ya for hearing it that way. And I pray some day the bitter left will hear in it what you do. But for it’s good intentions, or at least its worthwhile aping of good intentions, it’s just poorly written.
“Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us.”
Was your faith taught to you by a dark past?
“Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;”
If your hope is rooted in the present, do you need to now turn to your hope?
“Facing the rising sun of our new day begun, let us march on”
Are you marching against the Sun? Won’t that hurt your eyes?
“Bitter the chastening rod, Felt in the days when hope unborn had died” So your hope is dead? Was it a miscarriage, or the victim of abortion?
“We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,” That seems disrespectful of the dead, no?
If lift every voice was in it, it was woke.
"Nothing work".
BKMK for later
I was just enjoying the family today. I was checking the UK election at times, but not much of anything. Happy Independence Day, all.
My late wife and I saw the Macy’s show three times. They were great, especially the one where we sat on a pier and the East River below us. But to be honest for sitting at home the Macy’s show oesn’t hold a candle to the DC 4th and definitely not the Boston Pops 4th
*Program was on due to digital TV converter at the ranch cabin being stuck on one channel.
No family here, but the Rays are leading the Royals at the moment by a field goal 10-7, and there were good fireworks that I could watch from outside the home. The nation is not lost yet; happy Independence Day.
I hope you were careful where you sat, since everyone knows that when you're out of slits, you're out of pier.
We only watched a bit of it, but one woman did sing Amazing Grace (first verse) so that was great.
Full disclosure: I like Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing, and have no problem with it being sung anytime, anyplace, anywhere.
I too like “Lift Ev’ry Voice...” but don’t set it as a rival to our National Anthem.
We have ONE. We are ONE nation under God!
