Several Democrats running in competitive House districts this cycle are breaking from President Biden, underscoring growing concerns that the incumbent could be a down-ballot liability following his rocky debate performance in Atlanta last week.
Reps. Jared Golden (D-Maine) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wash.) have both declared they have no confidence in Biden winning, while Adam Frisch, a Democrat running to fill the seat being vacated by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), said the president should withdraw.
Their remarks come amid growing speculation that more members of the party will call for Biden to step aside after the fallout from last week’s debate. On Wednesday, The New York Times reported that Biden had spoken with several allies as he weighed his candidacy, though the White House has disputed that reporting.
“We’ve got frontliners who, even before this, would have been trying to distance themselves from Biden anyway,” said one House Democrat, who spoke anonymously to discuss a sensitive topic.
“The query is: Do you need to distance yourself further by saying the Democrats should have somebody else at the top of the ticket?” the lawmaker added. “Because if that becomes what they need to do, then we’re really in trouble. He already is a down-ballot issue, especially in those states. How much worse does it get for them is the question.”

“We don’t know the guy! We never even heard of him! And, if we HAD heard of him, we certainly never voted “aye” for any legislation he signed.”
I hope the R’s are heads-up and not taking anything for granted. It would suck to get Trump in the WH but blocked at every turn by Congress.
That’s what I fear. Even if they lose the presidency the Democrats can still stop any of Trump’s legislative policies if they can regain the Senate and take back the House, which are both very doable and they have plenty of financial resources to contest every close race.
Stop with the “Congress can block everything Trump tries to do” stuff.
Trump is not going to have any dynamic agenda because NOBODY is going to have a dynamic agenda. Not at $36T debt, which will be the number in early Nov.
Trump’s agenda is build the wall and drain the swamp. It is not going to be big programs or even big tax cuts, because $36T won’t allow that.
The era of nihilism is ascendant. We want Trump in to drain the swamp and build the wall. Not to “do things”. His job will be to prevent things being done.
Governance is a failure. $36T proves it.
“growing concerns that the incumbent could be a down-ballot liability”
The down-ballot issue could be very important. If RAT voters are disgusted enough with Biden, they could just stay home ... period. That would mean fewer votes for RATs in other races.
This is assuming a cheat-less election, which we know won’t happen.
I’ve been screaming this from the rooftops since the Rats started fleeing the ship. There is simply no way a major party is going to have a Presidential candidate that the rest of the party’s politicians are running away from. Not even the dumbocrats are this stupid. Impossible. Won’t happen.
You are right. Trump can do a lot with the agencies. He can simply order his secretaries to relocate agencies, furlough them to save money, and many other things without needing Congress.

Their votes will catch up to them.
Later. Thanks
