In China Space Pioneer was performing a static fire test of the Booster for their Tianlong 3 rocket, a design which is a close copy of SpaceX's Falcon 9. Due to an engineering failure the rocket broke free of the test stand, flew under power for about 30 seconds before crashing back to Earth in a spectacular fireball.

That’s y its a space ex copy.
They just couldn’t steal all the data.
Compare to SpaceX Rocket.. 🙄😁
“a close copy of SpaceX’s Falcon 9”
I bet. No one is better at corporate espionage and theft than the ChiComs.
I think the re-entry move was a bit premature.
EVER STAND NEAR A TOP FUEL DRAGSTER WHEN IT IS FIRED AFTER A NEW ENGINE IS INSTALLED???
PLENTY OF HORSEPOWER-—BUT STAYS IN PLACE WHILE BEING TEST FIRED.
THEN-—CAN GO OUT & DO A STANDING START RUN AT 3.66 SECONDS & 337 MPH in 1000 feet of track.
“And PLENTY of China-born people working in corporate America, including very sensitive positions (yes, many are citizens now, but does anyone think that affects their loyalties?).”
There are certain government restrictions on what projects foreign nationals can work on, but I don’t think they apply to naturalized citizens. I’ve known some that eventually got jobs in China and moved back.
No, particularly with liquid rocket engines.
Here's a Falcon-9 static test fire:
“good news, minister! Several new organs have suddenly become available!”
Many more details for the excellent China Observer site.
Farcical China’s Rocket Launch Fails: Held by Bolts on a Makeshift Scaffold. Far Too Rudimentary

Image: note the concrete pad, the steel hold down cables, and the weight at the top. Items the Pioneer rocket copy lacked.
Rocket crash 1 km from high speed rail line, 1.5km from a city, just a common rocket test.
Chinese jargon translated:
“Early planning” means ‘getting ready to plagiarize’;
“Years of dedication” means ‘waiting for open source’;
“Overtaking on a curve” means ‘the open source opportunity has arrived’;
“Far ahead” means ‘successful plagiarism’;
“Bottlenecked” means ‘a failed attempt at copying’.
Example:
After years of ‘early planning’ and ‘years of dedication’, Pioneer claims it wants to surpass Space X which clearly marks their attempt at ‘overtaking on a curve’ on their way to ‘far ahead’, however their safety measures are so haphazard that they haven’t even done the fundamental groundwork as a result the rush to overtake has led to this unexpected first flight on June 11th. Clearly Pioneer has been ‘bottlenecked’.
that is a test done at spacex’s mcgragor tx facility.
Yeah ... The ChiComs forgot to copy a few things.
Yes they did.... BOOM goes the chiCom rocket!!
Could somebody at SpaceX have suspected IP theft, and left booby-trapped plans in place of the real ones?
I was thinking more like a Mad Magazine rocket kit...
Anyone remember that one?
That rocket.....a premature ejaculaunch.
And they had the igniters turned OFF.
Who was the culprit?
Culprit? They were using a Chinese Si-fi comedy cartoon for their methodology. Safety be dammed.
