A Florida firefighter killed his wife in an apparent murder-suicide just weeks after she opened up online about how his grueling work schedule left him “exhausted” and “never functioning 100% at home.”
St. Johns County Fire Rescue Lt. Shawn Yarbrough, 46, and his wife, financial adviser Andrea Nichole Nahrup Yarbrough, 34, were found dead in the bathroom of their St. Augustine home earlier this month, the sheriff’s department said.
Police were called to the couple’s home on June 13 after Andrea’s mother requested a welfare check when she couldn’t reach her.
Andrea’s death is considered a homicide, while her husband died by suicide, the sheriff’s department added. Both died from gunshot wounds, according to an autopsy report.

Though only a small percent go through with it, according to this study it is common for people to contemplate murder or suicide when cheating is discovered.
“Forty percent of those whose partners have cheated on them has contemplated suicide or murder, a Caritas study of extramarital affairs discovered.”
Some firemen work at two departments at once so you have one day off for every 2 days(48 Hours) working and that will strain all but the most stable marriage with a morally constrained wife.
Which adulterous are you referring to? They are too numerous to count on MSNBC.
Same here. Then they run to the local governing authority (city, county, fire district) and wave paperwork at them about how much their “call volume” has increased to justify more tax money. After all, they’re “heroes.”
Bimbo
“Yes, like the adulterous on MSNBC. She is still alive but 2025 is right around the corner.”
Most of us here don’t pay any attention to MSNBC, so perhaps you can share who you’re referring to there?
Seems to me that she went on Facebook or whatever possibly insinuating he firefighter husband possibly suffered from impotency and blamed it on his hectic work schedule.
When the boys back at the firehouse found out he was not amused...
Yep, it’s the same story over and over...
Sounds like you live in my town.
MA?
I took it as a strike against his obligations. You don’t embarrass men online.
Definitely. Just thinking about what the motive that set him off.

If you check the article, the wife didn't simply complain on Facebook, she posted the statistics of the Fire Department's calls with a disparaging comment. Her husband probably faced some castigation from it.
Being fully staffed isn’t the same as having a busy schedule.
He looks like a nice enough guy...
Don't know where the rest of the speculations here are coming from.
I don’t think I understand your post.
What are people here ‘speculating’?
And do you think being ‘overworked’ is a reason for a healthy man to kill his wife and then himself?
There was obviously something else going on, and that’s all that most of us are suggesting.
Ya, I’ve heard all that before and worked in a real big city. Some of the responses I’ve seen closeup are ridicules. Some old lady falls and two platoons of people show up. I’ve seen this countless times. No I’m not against people helping those that need it, but it’s become a joke in many venues and has drivin taxes way up.
And btw Holly, you can bet the rent this guy didn’t do what he did because of some schedule. Trust me here.
Chances are very good that he was put on psych drugs recently
