Trump backs displaying the Ten Commandments in all US schools following Louisiana’s controversial mandate: ‘It’s just incredible’

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday endorsed displaying the Ten Commandments in all schools, days after a controversial new law went into effect in Louisiana mandating classroom postings.

“Has anyone read the ‘Thou shalt not steal’?” the presumptive GOP presidential nominee told more than 1,000 predominantly evangelical Christians at a Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Washington DC.

“I mean, has anybody read this incredible stuff? It’s just incredible. They don’t want it to go up. It’s a crazy world,” added Trump, who drew huge applause.

A new law signed in Louisiana on Thursday requires the Ten Commandments to be displayed in every public school classroom, including at colleges.

The American Civil Liberties Union quickly threatened to file a lawsuit, arguing the law violates the separation of church and state.

On Friday, however, Trump gave an all-caps endorsement of the new law on his Truth Social media network.

“I LOVE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND MANY OTHER PLACES, FOR THAT MATTER. READ IT — HOW CAN WE, AS A NATION, GO WRONG???” he wrote.

“THIS MAY BE, IN FACT, THE FIRST MAJOR STEP IN THE REVIVAL OF RELIGION, WHICH IS DESPERATELY NEEDED, IN OUR COUNTRY,” added Trump.

“Thou shalt not commit adultery” is the seventh commandment in the Hebrew Bible's Book of Exodus, Exodus 20:14. It is considered the sixth commandment by Roman Catholic and Lutheran authorities.

It sounds like he’s trying to change his message on giving Greed Cards to all legal and illegal students.

We need that talent we can’t grow with US citizens, because we are now a 3rd World nation, apparently.

That is, “Green Cards,” but, honestly, these foreign students are greedy, if not going back to their country to try to better it.

These become effective Anchor Baby Students, and we get their crazy chain migration of all the family and friends.

Remember Tiny Tim and his “tip toe through the tulips?” When asked what parents should teach children, his response was: the ten commandments.

That was before Trump was a believer.

What does the Bible say about mercy and grace?

*There will be those against it.*
Those against it didn’t have Trump to go up against. A school kid saying grace in the cafeteria? What’s there to be afraid of?

*When asked what parents should teach children, his response was: the ten commandments.*
Teach them at home. Post it at school.

texasscorecard.com---Last year the Supreme Court ruled in Kennedy v. Bremerton School District that the Lemon test banning the display should be abandoned; the Court replaced it with a directive to consider “historical practices and understandings” in determinations of a law’s constitutionality as it relates to the Establishment Clause.

In the Texas bill to permit display,at a Senate committee hearing, sponsor Phil King argued the legislation “became legally feasible” with the ruling, saying it is “a good, healthy step for Texas to bring back this tradition of recognizing America’s religious heritage.”

Sponsor Candy Noble pointed out that the language proposed for the required posting is identical to that found on the Ten Commandments monument on the grounds of the State Capitol. Citing the 2005 precedent in Van Orden v. Perry, she explained the Supreme Court determined the monument’s placement on government property does not violate the Establishment Clause because it could be viewed as a recognition of the nation’s legal tradition.

She also noted that the Supreme Court building itself contains several carvings depicting Moses holding two stone tablets, which, according to the Old Testament narrative, God used to write the Ten Commandments. “This legislation will bring back this historic tradition of recognizing America’s foundational heritage in both our education and our judicial system,” said Noble.

Witnesses testifying in favor of the display bill included Timothy Barton of Wallbuilders, Matt Krause of First Liberty Institute, and Mary Elizabeth Castle of Texas Values. Representatives from the Texas Freedom Network, the Texas chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, and interfaith organization Texas Impact testified against the legislation.

His comment on this today in DC was great. It is a winning topic, especially as he presents this as just plain commonsense.

The Ten Commandments are neutral. They sure as heck don’t establish a religion.

Not displaying the 10 is anti-Semitic.

IMO the same attitude that now exists regarding abortion should be the one that exists with the Ten Commandments in schools...no Federal law forbidding it or mandating it.

The Ten are the fundamental basis of Western Civ Law.

Does the USA have a unifying Law Code or not?

I would agree that all except the first are neutral. But the first declares that there is a god, namely God of the Old Testament. And that God is the top god (no others before Him). That works for Christians, Jews, and Muslims, which together comprise the vast majority of Americans. But there are those who don't have that belief, which is a religious belief.

That said, the Establishment Clause applies to the Federal government, not the States.

Trump's statement should have a clarifier, that posting the 10 Commandments should be determined on a state-by-state basis. Doing it at the federal level is problematic.

I did not know that Lutherans counted the Commandments like Catholics.

I love it too. We will once again need to honor our mom and dad. Divorce lawyers will have to find another job since adultry will see tremendous decline. The advertising and marketing industry will take a major hit as we shall not covet. The government will have to get used to, once again, having God before government and politicians will have to speak the truth. We will need to keep the Sabbath Day holy.

Biden will have to step down because he stole an election.
