More propaganda about the “new” national Independence Day.
...yes, that was an historical moment in our nation’s history, but so important that another meaningless federal holiday had to be created for it....? I doubt that even one out of every 10 Americans picked at random could even explain the meaning of Juneteenth.....and probably nobody but federal workers [sic] even got the day off....

He got it wrong about the Republican Party being formed to abolish slavery. The Republican Party’s purpose was to prevent the expansion of slavery into the territories.
Perhaps that is a small thing, but why not get it right?
I don’t fault West for not mentioning Lincoln’s plan to ship black people out of the U.S. or Lincoln’s views on race.
I do hope West will be able to attract more votes for President Trump. I just hope West doesn’t get into a public debate against a knowledgeable opponent.

I was wondering how ALL slaves were freed? Did this magically happen through using proper pronouns and $15 per hour? Who were the abolitionists? Who were the slave traders? Where did 97% of the slaves go (which countries)? Why did Democrats support slavery? What about the KKK?

Juneteenth is the 19th, yesterday. It is important as that is the day that the US executed the Rosenbergs — the traitors who gave USSR the secrets of the H bomb. This prolonged the cold war by letting the USSR continue to lie about how communism can do anything that a free market/republic can do.
That big lie persists because of traitors.

No. Juneteenth was real and American and was not started by the government.
It was natural and celebrated locally. They called it a jubilee. It was families and friends having a picnic.

True, it was a small local thing thing that was just natural and I didn’t even notice it until my late teens or early 20s.
I refuse to recognize this for what it wants to be recognized for. Its simply another June day on the calendar. Same goes for Kwanza

When things crash & we seriously dismantle the Federal Gov’t (yea, I’m dreaming) we’ll get rid of most holidays. Maybe leave it at Thanksgiving July 4th (true American holidays) & that’s it. No more special days or honoring politicians. Ever again.
I did, by combining it with another more important day which occurs on the 19th, that is, National Martini Day. I don't see why it doesn't get more airtime, but I'm out here trying.
