Woman missing in forest found dead inside belly of 20-ft python

A woman who went missing in Indonesia was found dead inside the belly of a 20ft python.

Farida, 45, a mother of four, went missing on Thursday night while she was walking through woodlands to sell food at a market in central Indonesia’s Sulawesi province.

Her husband, Noni, 55, became suspicious after finding his wife’s belongings in the forest and spotting a 20ft-long python with a ballooned up belly. The man, identified along with his wife in local media only by one name, raised an alarm among the locals.

It is believed that the python bit her on her leg and coiled around her body to suffocate her before swallowing her whole.

The villagers caught the python and sliced open its belly and found the woman dead inside.

Suardi Rosi, head of the village of Kalempang where the family lived, said the husband looked for his wife in the forest area and “found her belongings... which made him suspicious”.

“The villagers then searched the area. They soon spotted a python with a large belly," Mr Rosi said.

I imagine it won’t be long before these huge snakes are part of AOC’s Congress Squawd.

It’s almost an impossible task as each female snake has anywhere etween 10 and 60 or so eggs each laying session that they have- in just a few short years, the number of offspring is astonishingly high. Even if they were to reduce the numbers by say 1/2 in a season, the remaining 1/2 would quickly repopulate the area- they live in very tough to access areas too- gonna be very hard to eradicate them hunting them traditionally I think- given how diverse they are over brutal terrain to access and hunt.

I have seen vultures here in Northern Illinois as well. Flew right over us. I tell the cats that if they go outside the “BoogeyVultures” will get them.

They still try to get out…

Adding, ‘Python’ to my list of reasons to always live ABOVE the Mason-Dixon Line!

Oh yeah, for now, but when "Climate Change" heats everything up, we'll have pythons in Pittsburgh, all bets are off!

I’d read that constrictor-type snakes don’t actually suffocate their prey.
They wrap around to halt the beating of the heart.

I was curious, so I checked on the species of the snake in these attacks. It's the reticulated python. The bulk of the python problem in Florida are Burmese pythons, a different species. There aren't a lot of cases of Burmese pythons in the wild trying to attack adult humans for food. The reticulated python & the African rock python seem to have the worst reputation for that. Still ...
