Yavapai-Apache Nation Police Department officer Preston Brogdon was shot in the line of duty February 9, 2022, but survived life-threatening injuries only to be denied a “hardship” retirement and fired two years later, according to a report.
Law Enforcement Today reported that Brodgon became a police officer after his time in United States Marine Corps. On February 9, 2022, he responded to a call regarding shots being fired at Camp Verde and located a suspect who began running.
Brogdon and another officer gave chase on foot and the suspect fired at them, striking Brogdon, who fell to the ground and had to be dragged to safety by the other officer.

Terrible treatment of this officer.
Not much to go on in the article, but one thing I know -— Indian politics are as dirty as regular politics, if not worse, because it’s all little chiefs (no pun intended) in a little pond, who often get really grasping of their little parcel of power, and use it to hurt their enemies and reward their friends.
I presume he is suing? Sparse info in the article.
Absolutely. My D-I-L is native 1/8th) works in the Indian health services she is disgusted by what she has seen
He should wampum big chief with night stick.... Tell all Tommy Hawk gonna stock!
Back in the mid-90’s, I worked for a tribe in southern California. These guys had almost 40 miles of absolutely gorgeous, pristine shoreline along Lake Havasu. Early on in their casino adventures, they had Bally’s come in and lay out an entire hotel, casino, water park to be built on the shoreline. They could have been raking it in, had they been able to get past the inter-family squabbles and power struggles.
Sounds like “tribalism.” Hmm.
In the '60's my aunt and her brother-in-law both 'owned' cabins just north of the landing. The land though was leased out by the tribe, at a very modest cost. I am guessing on the number of these cabins, but I would say 25-30 were there and most right on the water. In the '90's my aunt was kicked out and given 24 hours to vacate. Not easy for a woman in her late '70's.
just looked at google earth to see that area now. Cabins are all gone, but the Casino is on what was a campground (if I remember correctly. If you look closely along that shoreline, just north of the landing, you can see a boat ramp, which was put in by her brothers, her two sons and four other cousins (including me).
Terribly written article, left us hanging without any hint of what the police department problem was with the officer, no reason given for his firing, nothing.
There’s a link in the article to another article on Law Enforcement Today, which provides a little more information. It seems that he was terminated for not returning to work after he was shot and injured. But, even that article isn’t very clear. It doesn’t fully explain why he didn’t return to work for two years after he was shot. That’s the nature of the news today.
