At least 35 Palestinians were killed Sunday in an Israeli strike on a tent encampment, Gaza health officials said, that the Israeli military claims targeted two senior Hamas officials.
The strike targeted a humanitarian zone in Rafah which the Israeli military previously instructed displaced Palestinians to shelter from attacks, the Gaza Health Ministry said. The ministry said most of the 35 dead were women and children, and that the death toll is likely to rise as “countless” are trapped in rubble.
The attack comes just days after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to stop its operations in Rafah, the last remaining major settlement in Gaza that has not been invaded by the Israeli military.
The Israeli military has slowly encroached on the city despite strong warnings from the Biden administration. President Biden warned earlier this month that he would stop military aid shipments to the country if it invaded Rafah without a plan approved by U.S. leaders to limit civilian casualties.
More than half of Gaza’s 2.3 million population are believed to be sheltering in Rafah, and over 80 percent of the territory’s population overall are displaced from their homes. The United Nations said famine has begun in parts of Gaza as civilians struggle to get access to humanitarian aid.
Over 120 aid trucks entered Rafah on Sunday from Egypt, the first since the Israeli military seized the crossing earlier this month. It was not immediately clear if local aid groups could access the humanitarian supplies, however, The Associated Press reported, as fighting in the area has made humanitarian work difficult.

In a *TENT* encampment?
Don’t believe Hamas; they are known liars. But even if women and children WERE the most of whom were killed, why were they kept in harm’s way by Hamas? I think we all know the answer to that.
>> At least 35 Palestinians were killed Sunday
Only 35, huh. I’m disappointed it’s not more, but I guess it’s progress. 35 per hour for a couple days or so would be cool.
>> “countless” are trapped in rubble... In a *TENT* encampment?
Heh... good point.
>> I thought the air outside today smelled fresher and cleaner.
Smiling out loud!
“The UN needs to...”
The UN should be renamed the DN - DO NOTHING (except condemn Israel every week as part of their normal working protocol).
KILL THEM ALL, LET GOD SORT THEM OUT.
Congrats to IDF. Good job.
“The ministry said most of the 35 dead were women and children, and that the death toll is likely to rise as countless” are trapped in rubble.”
And the media believes this BS.
The Israelis have to kill Yaya Sinwar and his brother. That will stop the Palestinians.
If the Gaza Health Ministry claims that 35 women and children died in the bombing, it must be true!
What happened in Chicago?
Hamas is expert at creating lies that gain them sympathy or leverage. There are always deaths of noncombatants in war.
Hamas has set the stage for many such deaths, more than in any other conflict by using civilians as shield, not wearing uniforms and placing weapons and military supplies next to or under civilian spaces. Meanwhile Israel is taking unprecedented steps to avoid civilian deaths.
The people of Gazan cheered at Israeli hostages being mistreated & paraded. They threw stones and spat. They conspired to keep the hostages hidden.
It is hard to parse which person would cheerfully kill jews, perhaps has done, and which person is not working with Hamas. I regret the unnecessary deaths which claimed “innocents” but Hamas made those deaths inevitable. Those deaths are one of Hamas’ most potent weapons and are solely Hamas’ responsibility.

Reporting 35 dead is propaganda. In the old days, real journalists would not publish heresay, but wait until numbers were confirmed. But then again real journalists don’t exist any longer.
Where did the 35 come from? Gaza Health? Contradiction in terms. Used to, unconfirmed numbers were not reported.
It's obvious that, in their Oct 7 murder orgy, they must have been 'assured' they would NEVER have to account for captives.
How many Japanese civilians did we kill to compel Imperial Japan to surrender? No warnings or instructions on where to evacuate. The criteria applied to make the decision was how many Americans were spared.
In case you’re wondering why the crying around the Rafah “massacre” suddenly changed its tone, it’s because two facts came to light:
A) The attack didn’t take place inside the safe zone but almost a mile away.
B) The fire was caused by a nearby jeep loaded with explosives.
