May 20 (UPI) -- A 12-foot alligator was relocated from Florida's MacDill Air Force Base after twice being found in restricted areas.

The 12-foot, 4-inch gator was first spotted at the Tampa base in April, when it found its way to the runway and parked itself by the landing gear of a plane.

The reptile was ejected, but put in a second appearance last week outside the Med Group facility.

Base officials made arrangements for the alligator to be permanently relocated to Gatorama and Crocodile Adventures in Palmdale, a facility located about 155 miles away.

Gatorama dubbed its new resident Major McDill in honor of the base.

Now even reptiles are smarter than the USAF.

To see alligators up close without the risk would be my guess.

The HOA always gets rid of them at our place anytime they get to a certain size. I like oooking out my lanai seeing them frolicking in the pond. Of course, as soon as they get rid of one, another couple of them appears in a day or two.

The lake I live on is about 3 miles across and there is no HOA in any neighborhood on the lake. People can contact the Game and Freshwater Fish Commission to have nuisance alligators removed. There is also an alligator hunting season and an opportunity to work with a hunter to target a large alligator you want removed. I always CCW at home and use rounds that will penetrate an alligator skull. The brain is small and I know the target from all angles.

I have alligators on the beach all the time. I have never had one get into my garage, but had a neighbor that had a large one in the garage under the car. I had many more issues with black bears and moose when I lived in Colorado.

Yup, and thats the only reason(restricted). Back in the day there were a bunch of those damned things wandering Keesler. There was one giant female that liked to put her nest out on one of the golf greens.

They didnt try to move them.
They didnt even say “Hey! Be careful for the gators!”
Nope, it was, “You better not disturb the gators or else!”

I’m happy to use binoculars from across a swampy area.

Forgot this wasn’t about illegals being deported; about British being defeated by the US troops against the British in 1814.

The Battle of New Orleans
by Johnny Horton (1959 hit song)

Yeah they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles
And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn’t go
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn’t catch ‘em
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

We fired our cannon till the barrel melted down
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round
We filled his head with cannonballs and powered his behind
And when we touched the powder off the gator lost his mind
