Numerous Florida residents in the Clermont and Groveland areas say they keep seeing monkeys roaming their neighborhoods.
Clermont resident Aime Krug told Fox 35 she spotted one of the animals Tuesday on the roof of a house on Minnehaha Avenue and was shocked at the sight of it, the outlet reported Thursday:

“This monkey went across the road, and I had to do a double take because I didn’t think that it was actually a monkey,” she recalled, noting that because she lived in India for several years, monkeys do not frighten her.
Video footage shows the monkey casually walking across the roof of the yellow house:

Well, we are turning into a banana republic so it stands to reason 🤷
Nothing a 22 won’t take care of.
They are mostly from India.
crazy bipedal rats, imho.
Monkeys have been in Florida for decades, this is nothing new, especially in the Ocala National Forest, back in the 1930s and 40s, when the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies were filmed in Ocala at Silver Springs the monkeys used in the movies escaped and adapted to the area and have proliferated over the years since.
Shoot on sight.
Just watched the movie “Outbreak” a few days ago - good movie - Dustin Hoffman/Rene Russo/Kevin Spacy.
Don’t make friends with monkeys....
Operated a business out of Eustis, Florida in the early 1970’s. Monkey sightings were common along the Northern edges of Lake Griffin (North Lake County), but nowhere near Clermont (in South Lake County). Monkeys were brought in for Tarzan movie production at Silver Springs in the early 1930’s, and some of them escaped into the wild. Lake Griffin is down river from Silver Springs via the Ocklawaha River. The monkey were wild, and kept their distance from humans.
Yep. People near the Forest have been complaining about the monkeys for many years. Didn’t know the little critters have expanded all the way to Clermont!
Monkeys bringing their pet Indians to the neighborhood.
The monkeys from south of the border have joined with the miggies in their quest for “assylum”.
Yah, just start reporting that some of them are acting like they have rabies. Coppers will be shooting on sight.
Florida Man Ping!
They have been escaping from Monkey Jungle for years.
They WON’T keep their distance if people FEED THEM!
“They are mostly from India.”
That’s racist!
Saw a special on the monkey problem in India.
Monkeys (well…ok Apes) are our closest relatives biologically and shows our worst traits are from our most primitive emotions.
They steal food
Throw crap at people
Spread diseases
Destroy things and breed fast…those are the MINOR problems.
They show signs of revenge, hatred, planning and actual war like behavior.
They have been killing numerous small children. A family chased some away and it’s said they watched the house for days waiting for revenge until the baby sitter (grandma) fell asleep then they snatched the baby and drowned it in a water cistern. They have killed other toddlers by snatching them and throwing them from heights, an older man was killed when he angered a gang of them. They carried BRICKS to a tall place and threw them on his head.
No one even knows how many pets they kill, in some areas they have trouble keeping dogs because the monkeys target puppies killing them constantly.
A few years ago they are suspected of even killing an Indian politician, throwing him off his roof when he tried to chase a gang away.
No idea if they are the same species of monkey in Florida.
