Monkeys have been in Florida for decades, this is nothing new, especially in the Ocala National Forest, back in the 1930s and 40s, when the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies were filmed in Ocala at Silver Springs the monkeys used in the movies escaped and adapted to the area and have proliferated over the years since.
Yep. People near the Forest have been complaining about the monkeys for many years. Didn’t know the little critters have expanded all the way to Clermont!
That was my favorite Fla vacation spot. It was such a fun place!...and yes, I saw the monkeys. I saw my 1st Kodiak bear there. They are huge...and I loved feeding the giraffes and cruising in the glass bottomed boats. Great memories! I think it’s just a state camping place now and no one wants to deal with the herpes monkeys anyway...sigh
