On Good Friday, March 29, 2024, I I cut my hand and had to go to the nearby Urgent Care her in Phoenix.
They stitched up my hand and scheduled me to come back in a couple of weeks to get the stitches removed.
When I went back, the Urgent Care center got masky in the meantime. I told them I would wait outside, and "You do know that the studies now show that the masks don't do anything useful."
When I came in, I did put the mask on over my mouth, but not my nose. When I was in the office, I removed it entirely. They didn't care. My guess is they were following a directive.
The cut needed to heal more, so they told me to come back later. Today, I went back and had the stitches removed. The signs requiring masks were gone. The people in the waiting area were mask-free. The workers were mostly maskless.
Now, I do not believe my one remark and minimal compliance by itself made the difference, but I doubt I was not alone, with responses ranging from an eye roll to "Not this $%^& again!"
Anyway, I am hopeful that enough people aren't going to play along if they tried what they did last time. We will see, I am afraid.

What you described as the most recent hospital mask policy is pretty much how it is at my nearest VA Hospital.
I don’t enter wearing a mask, but I take the lead of each doctor or nurse practitioner I get treated by
If they enter the room wearing a mask and ask me to wezr one while in their office, I will wear one, provided they have a spare unused one. I’m not going to sit in their office and argue about it or try to enlighten them.
After I leave that office, off goes the mask.
Good on ya, calling out that nonsense for what it is. Sounds like some higher-up took a little power trip.
I haven’t seen any place require a mask in a couple of years. And I only see a person wearing one on very rare occasions.
I haven’t seen a person wearing a mask alone in a car in over two years. If I did, I’d have to resist the urge to point and laugh.
Its coming back...Bird flu.

Where I live, people barely went along with the mask nonsense the first time around. Aside the the very small minority of Karens and Kyles, nobody around here is going to play that stupid game.
My problem is if they do not understand how small a virus is and why masking to prevent transmission is useless I tend to think they didn’t learn much in med school.
This very morning (April 22) there was a young man walking down the side of the highway wearing a paper surgical mask.
At 6 in the morning.
On a deserted road.
In a town of 3000 people.
The propaganda and fear mongering worked VERY WELL INDEED on some folks.

The mask DOES catch the droplets you would spew if you cough or sneeze. But it’s useless to trap inbound airborne virus-size particles.
I understand that motivation, but nowadays doctors are told in med school, if a patient makes you feel “threatened or invalidated” it’s okay to pass that patient on to another provider of care. I just want treatment, get meds renewed, get out and be allowed to return without having my insurance status “temporarily placed under review”. A lot of today’s workers actually are that petty and that self centered.
You can believe it. I see them every day.
It was a vicious super-flu created in a U.S.-financed lab in China that the rushed-through "vaccines" made worse - while Big Pharm raked in billions in profits at the expense of we taxpayers, the credulity of the bamboozled President and the unnecessary loss of too many beloved people before their time.
I don't care how they word disclaimers of responsibility - bitches behind that have to pay.
I used the same mask throughout COVID. When the mandates were lifted I threw it on the ground and it just kinda crawled away on its own.
I hope so.
Problem is, I see too many people roaming around the streets these days with masks that look like they’ve been glued on or painted on, they’re so tight.
Here in NH there were business owners who actively bucked the laws, and the laws were so vaguely written that then they were inevitably taken to court by some control freak maskhole, they won their case.
I made sure to give them my business.
And the voting machines found to be internet connected...so much so that their algorithms can be altered to count more votes for one side than another according to programming.
Throw in the "3:00 AM Miracle" of all those sudden jumps after Republican observers were told go home, everything was done..."Ta Da!" Like God reached down and altered it so Biden's 20 million countered Trumps 90 (or higher). OF COURSE NOT.
I think President Trump set an unprecedented all-time record that will never be officially recognized in history. Ripped off of his rightful office, ripped off financially by a corrupt thieving judiciary and ripped off in earned legacy.
He fights, he puts our nation's interests above his own and is obviously willing to expend everything he's been blessed with toward getting things set back on proper course. Works for me.
