Same here. Tree frogs. Crickets. Cicadas. I got ‘em all.

Integral part of the longitudinal life cycles of many other creatures, whose boom and bust follows along with the food glut provided by the cicadas. Also, a respite year for species that would otherwise have been predated (plants & animals).

    I know I’m braced.
I have been through these emergences several times. They’re all over the place and they are very noisy, and that’s about it. From the map I have seen, there is very little overlap, if any, between the two broods.
But to get in line with the spirit of the times, I offer this hopeful verse:
We’ll meet again,
Don’t know where,
Don’t know when.
But I know we’ll meet again
Some sunny day.

Just think: if those trillion cicadas brought just a dollar each, they could pay for 0’Biden’s spending for a couple months.

Total hyperbole, yes cicadas are annoying, but they just want to make whoopee, and then they burrow back into the ground. They don't eat anything after they surface, and after they mate and lay eggs, they die.

They're in for a big disappointment if they expect to find groceries at a wind farm.

Now, that's funny because I have tinnitus, too. But I actually love the sound; I find it calming. When I was in Japan, I visited a Japanese village in the mountains. A Japanese flute player played a beautiful traditional sakuhachi tune. The sound of the flute echoed off the surrounding rocks. It was summer, and mixed in with the music were the cicadas, I have loved that sound ever since.

I’m pretty much used to it until I start thinking about it. It’s raging away now that I read this and am posting. By the time I go to bed it’ll be back to normal background noise. “Love it”, I’ve never heard that before though.
