From a Golden Wedding to a Golden Divorce, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have decided to end their marriage only three months after tying the knot.
The former couple, who met on the very successful first season of The Golden Bachelor, announced the shocking news on this morning’s Good Morning America.
“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched The Golden Bachelor, and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope,” Nist began. “We want none of that to change for anybody.”
Turner then took over, telling GMA’s Juju Chang, “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
When Chang asked if that meant they were getting a “divorce,” Turner confirmed, “Yes.”
“The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us are to our families,” he said. “So we look at these situations and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to, to live apart.”
Despite deciding to end their marriage, Turner insisted that they never fell out of love.
“There’s no doubt in my mind. I’m still in love with her. I root for her every day,” he said, with both of them adding that they will continue their search for love.
Turner and Nist got engaged in the season finale of The Golden Bachelor before they said “I do” in a televised special that aired Jan. 4. The news of their split comes weeks after TMZ reported that they were still not living together, with Turner residing in Indiana, while Nist has remained in New Jersey.
The Bachelor spinoff became ABC’s most-watched unscripted premiere on Hulu, per Variety. Following the success of the first season, the network announced its plans to move forward with The Golden Bachelorette, which will reportedly begin airing this fall.
Why the long face, Theresa?
Who?
The ABC checks cleared...
Not really “shocking” as the article describes.
People of that age, same as me, are set in their ways and lives.
Each had their families in separate states and neither was going to go live elsewhere because of that.
I knew this was coming just not this quickly...............
Even straight marriages are not taken seriously. The world is a mess.
LOL!
Who wouldn't want to wake up to that face every morning?
Well, someone got the money they were looking for.
I hate these shows, but my wife loves them.
They trivialize human relationships to the level of a game show..................
Shocking, why? Not a change in hell it was gonna last. surprised it hit the 90 days.
After social media, reality shows destroyed our country. Without those two things, we’d be much better off.
The “Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!” attention whores gotta attention-whore.
The “smart” phone is at the top of the list.
The “smart” phone is the worst thing that has ever happened to humanity.
I watched one of those Bachelor shows to see what the fuss was about. You hit the nail on the head. Girls love a good romance, but these shows take that to a new level, and it’s just so fake. Plus, the cat fights. Lord, who needs that?
Truthfully, these “reality” shows are anything but real. So much is staged, and scripted. Look good (or bad) for the camera, even the hidden ones. It’s such a farce.
I recall watching the final episode of The Golden Bachelor. His number 2 choice was dumped after he had given signals that she was the one. Is she still available? Is she still interested?
Whatever it is between them... I ain’t love.

My dog likes to get me up in the morning by putting his head on the bed and staring at me till I wake up.
Given that choice I’ll stick with the dog...
