Please folks!! The animals don't know not to look up at the eclipse. Please bring them all inside. The raccoons, opossums, snakes and deer.Bring them inside! Save our wildlife!

Serious question, one I realize that the answer might be obvious. However, I will risk the fool to ask it.
As cameras have become so high definition, 16k some of them, is there a risk in watching an eclipse from the high end cameras or is there now some risk in using them to watch an eclipse through?

They are probably rehearsing and he looked up at the sky.

Zero risk.
Neither the light from the camera video display nor from any other playback device replicates the serious portentous for eye damage inherent in the direct light of the Sun.

St Albans?!?! My favorite aunt...who was my surrogate mother (my Mom died when I was young)...lived there during her married life and is buried there. I was originally gonna go up to Magog,Quebec for the eclipse then drive west to pick up I-89 to St Albans to visit her grave. But they say the traffic is gonna be horrible so I might just go up to St Johnsbury...and then home.
Every forecast I've seen says perfect weather for all of New England tomorrow!

I should note that keeping an unfiltered camera pointed directly at the Sun — even during the eclipse — will focus the sunlight on the CCD powerfully enough to torch it.
The camera needs a lens filter to attenuate the light and protect the CCD that the image is being recorded on.

Thanks.
I missed that detail in the one pic [his head is cut off in the headline pic].

When I was little we would stare at the sun until it made us sneeze.

Erie PA.
We have had two sunny days in a row. To have a 3rd on Monday this time of year would be more rare than the eclipse itself.
The darkness I hope to experience may be what those who witnessed Christ’s crucifixion......without an eclipse.
To: DesertRhino
I don’t have to look at the sun to make me sneeze but it will only happens indoors ,LOL

If you are near some trees with the sunlight filtering through to a flat surface such as a driveway or sidewalk, you will see lots of little eclipses on the ground

"Shadows on the ground"? What a waste. Get a pair of binoculars mounted on a tripod and a good piece of poster board. This was me in 2017 a few minutes before putting on the glasses to watch totality. You get a MUCH bigger image to view this way and it's easy to do.

I have fond memories of using a kitchen knife to cut cardboard boxes when I was about 5. My mother would have groceries delivered by our local grocery store. We were given the boxes to play with, and I would make one a house by drawing with crayons and cutt doors and windows.

PS: I never cut myself with the knife, but I did learn about the heat that can be created through friction when a knife blade burned my hand once.
