The criss crossing lines. They’re identical to the two lines depicting the two eclipses. Their intersection is the path of the current eclipse.

Cool. I went to Mizzou ‘69-‘73. When I went to Columbia, MO in Fall ‘69, mom and dad sold the house and moved to Philly. Dad always said it was for a new job, but I had my doubts.

Watched that vid, last night.

It IS very interesting so many different things happening on 4/8/24 ... some that haven’t happened for hundreds or even thousands of years. From the CERN collider activity, to the cicadas, red heifers, and, the five planets aligning....just to name a few.

We watched the 2017 eclipse, in NYC. It was fascinating watching the shadows of the tree leaves/branches, on the sidewalks....then images they made.

We’ll watch this one, too, from our lake place.

Working out the equations myself I get that the total pull of the inline sun and moon on a 150 pound person would be about 1 pound.

We’re having an Eclipse viewing get together with our family.

Intuitively, I thought the total force would be much smaller also, like thousandths of a gram. Well, we were wrong.

But the change during a solar eclipse (compared to the moon at 90° from the sun) is, in simple terms, about 1/6 of the total pull or around 2.7 ounces, which is pretty dang close to what you said!

Yes, a bunch of us are going to watch from a small park about a block from where I live. We’re in the path of totality so it’s going to start getting real crowded around here in the next few days. We all have our viewing glasses - even a couple of extras to tape onto our phone cameras.

We’re going to be barbecuing the day before because restaurants will likely be jammed all weekend long.
