Short video on why you should not eat the Chinese garlic..................
Grow your own Ping!..............
I’ve been buying pre-pealed garlic at Walmart. It’s from Spain.
And the 39-second reason is?
(I could guess—grown in lead-heavy soils, for example?)
I have a produce store which has California garlic.
Chinese garlic is grown in sewer water and then bleached to make it look white.
To tell the difference, Chinese garlic has no roots (I dunno - do they cut them off or do they rot off in the sewer) and is bleach white, whereas normal garlic has dense little roots and has discolorations (not bleached)
“Grow your own Ping!..............”
Absolutely
Along with Onions and Ginger, about the easiest things on the planet to grow. like a Popeil Veg, set it and forget it!
Well, actually, Weed is really much easier to grow.
or so I’ve been told . . .
Ooh, yuck!
And thanks.
I have bought Chinese garlic in the past-I won’t anymore.
That and Swai fish from SE Asia. It’s positively disgusting how they farm it.
NO food from China or Southeast Asia! I don’t need that ….
Thanks for posting it. One can’t be too careful anymore.
Yes, and other ‘stuff’..................
Well, I’ve never been to Spain.....................
My Olive Oil is from Spain, too. And Garlic and Olive oil and any vegie sauteed....makes a perfect snack or side.
Do they poop on it? Taint it with LSD?
Not providing insight means everyone has to watch the video.
For everyone not watching:
#1: It’s grown in human sewer water
#2: It’s white because it’s artificially bleached with chlorine
#3: He says Chinese garlic has no roots. (I’m not so sure about this one, myself.)
#4: It may not be clearly apparent where it came from
I’ve learned elsewhere that they cut them off because the roots will harbor dirt and the garlic will not be allowed for importation to the US.
Used to tailgate with Christophers at Stanford games.
Have a house near Seiad Valley...Shame about the river.
Thank you. Now I’ll never eat garlic ever again.
So must really be propaganda from Transylvania...
I’ve not had much luck with onions but i’ve had much luck with my 50 or so garlic plants every year. I want to try turmeric but our growing season (5b) is too short.
I also grow Humulus Lupulus (hops) which is a close cousin of ‘Weed.’
I used to buy Chinese garlic, and tried growing some of it. Nope. Not sure what they do to it, but it wouldn’t grow.
