Heart-pounding footage shows the moment an Australian man going 100km/h on an e-scooter leads police on a chase from the highway to a bike path where he narrowly avoids cyclists.

James Cole, 38, was spotted by police going at high speed along Majura Parkway in Canberra's east on December 23 last year.

When two officers on motorbikes try to pull him over, bodycam footage shows Cole refusing to stop and hitting the throttle in an attempt to evade them.

FYI, 100km/h = 62 mph.

His excuse was he was late for work. His drug test shows he was high on meth at the time of his arrest.

I denounce the police for bothering this man. He was riding an e-scooter, which means he was doing his part to go green and save the Earth.

Small-wheel scooter, no spokes. There’s a guy who rides one at 35 mph in traffic here but today I saw a copy sitting there during his usual run time.

Having been in the workforce for almost 40 years I never could wrap my head around habitual tardiness.

From ‘82-’88 I worked in a place that actually terminated people for that and I for one applauded it.

And guess what setting an example like that did.....people’s butts came to work on time......what a concept right?
