One of the things we probably all hated at one point as a kid was brushing our teeth.
Standing in the bathroom while your parent supervises to make sure we are cleaned them properly, it's a hatred that you eventually grow out of when you realise it's important to keep your teeth clean.
But for some people, it can become more of an on-going issue for multiple reasons - some of which can't be helped.
One of these people was Jay, who went onto Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies back in 2017 about his teeth, which he admitted he hadn't brushed in 20 years.
Embarrassing Bodies is a show in which people who suffer from quite strange health inflictions that they've been to embarrassed to visit the doctor about, so go on live TV instead.
And Jay was keen to repair the years of damage inflicted onto his teeth.
He explained that he had suffered from teeth problems since he was a young boy as he wasn't encouraged to brush his teeth.

Credit: Channel 4/Embarrassing Bodies He also explained that his diet hadn't helped things either, saying: "Over the years, I've eaten the wrong food, I've drank lots of fizzy drinks and I haven't really taken care of them."
Adding: "I haven't really brushed them or flossed or anything like that."
Examining Jay's teeth, dentist Dr James Russell said: "There's a lot going on, isn't there? It's not that you're suffering from gum disease as such... it's just decay."
The examination showed just how much damage the plaque build-up has caused over the years - basically rotting his teeth all together.

The dentist advised a full set of veneers for the then 21-year-old and was also strictly advised to change his lifestyle to maintain them.
Along with a new trim and a clean shaven face, Jay looks like a different fella all together.
At least that's a better job then what happened to this TikToker.

I know, confusing right?
In a video that now has over 33 million views, Layla asked her followers: "Why did my dentist think three front teeth was a pretty look?"
Adding: "Fake tooth between my two front teeth until I get ma fakin braces."
Although she clarified it wasn't a permanent addition but because she had a gap filed in between her front teeth which the dentist covered with another for 'aesthetic purposes'.
I mean, everyone has a different idea of what is aesthetically pleasing right?
I can’t imagine being within a few feet of the guy. The smell.
Wasn’t this topic discussed in one of the Austin Powers movies?
Looks like crack head Hunter Biden.
Someone was able to improve Shane MacGowan’s dental situation
My late sister was nearly killed by a quack dentist when she was in her teens, and she had emotional issues re her teeth and taking care of them for the rest of her life. By the time she died, she had only a few teeth left and refused any and all urgings to go to a dentist (or a doctor). She had been an astonishingly beautiful woman, and it was horrible to see this happen to her.
Ugh, what woman would date him? He must have had breath that would stop a rhinoceros.
They call me Yuckmouth, ‘cause I don’t brush. I like my teeth like this...
How could that not hurt like hell?
Makes one want to cry.
Anyway, Shane did fix his teeth towards the end of his life with implants that had to cost in six figures.
I get my teeth cleaned twice a year but since I went to a mostly carnivore diet, the teeth hardly need cleaning at all. It is a sugar diet that mostly causes the decay.
THIS woman certainly would NOT be caught dead dating him!
Tell me you’re mentally ill without telling me you are mentally ill…
Next step: I’m a chick!
Maybe not. The guy's dentist said "It's not that you're suffering from gum disease as such... it's just decay". Isn't halitosis just from fouled gums, not from tooth decay?
If someone doesn’t floss regularly and they get a few feet in front of me and are talking I can smell them.
If someone hasn’t flossed in decades I can’t imagine the stench up close.
If you think that’s bad you should see his underwear
Yeah, I hear you ... but flossing doesn't do much for flushing bacteria out of any existing tooth cavities, while it probably does help the gums to be irrigated, which would flush out organic matter that's slipped between gum tissue and the roots of the teeth.
My basic thought is that people don't need to brush their teeth as much they need to "brush" (massage) their gums. A centuries old adage to "brush you teeth" should really be "brush your gums": massage your gums to flush out the gunk that would otherwise become a garbage dump. That's a dump where bacteria will thrive, multiply ... and deposit a foul smelling waste. Maybe tooth cavities stink some also, but I think halitosis comes primarily from the space between the gums and the teeth roots.
Oh my, what would the ADA say? Is toothpaste even necessary? What would Colgate say?!!
