Had no service at home from 6ish until I left about half hour ago. Now at PCP appt. Hope to at least catch up on reading. Cotton is going to be covered up with commitments. We’re not ignoring everyone!

Eternal Legacy

Bible in a Year :

I have seen a grievous evil under the sun: wealth hoarded to the harm of its owners.

Ecclesiastes 5:13

As Dust Bowl sandstorms ravaged the United States during the Great Depression, John Millburn Davis, a resident of Hiawatha, Kansas, decided to make a name for himself. A self-made millionaire with no children, Davis might have invested in charity or economic development. Instead, at great expense, he commissioned eleven life-size statues of himself and his deceased wife to stand in the local cemetery.

“They hate me in Kansas,” Davis told journalist Ernie Pyle. Local residents wanted him to fund the construction of public facilities like a hospital, swimming pool, or park. Yet all he said was, “It’s my money and I spend it the way I please.”

King Solomon, the wealthiest man of his day, wrote, “Whoever loves money never has enough,” and “as goods increase, so do those who consume them” (Ecclesiastes 5:10–11). Solomon had grown keenly aware of the corrupting tendencies of wealth.

The apostle Paul also understood the temptation of wealth and chose to invest his life in obedience to Jesus. Awaiting execution in a Roman prison, he wrote triumphantly, “I am already being poured out like a drink offering . . . . I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:6–7).

What lasts isn’t what we chisel in stone or hoard for ourselves. It’s what we give out of love for each other and for Him—the One who shows us how to love. .

Reflect & Pray

What will others remember about you? What changes might you need to make as you ponder your eternal legacy?

Heavenly Father, please help me pour out my life for others in some small way today.

“Is a Datsun Maxima the same as a Nissan Maxima?”

Yes! They were Datsun’s before they became Nissan. I just read up on them and it said the Datsun name was phased out in 1985, so we bought that car earlier then I thought.

One thing I didn’t like about it was that the drivers seat sat a little off kilter. I don’t recall why they did that. That car was in perfect condition for years until my husband decided to take half of the garage for his workshop. Then it had to sit outside and the sun deteriorated the upholstry.

Hi Spunky!

It’s a heck of a car! Fast, reliable. Like I said, I’ve had that car since 2011 and other than normal maintenance, I have had to make one repair for $800.00. Something to do with a spring that broke, suspension or something.

Amazing vehicle and still looks new! Unlike the owner.

“I did view that Tucker interview with Dr. Abalone?”

Do you have any idea where I can retrieve that video? I didn’t get to watch it all and when I went back to finish it, it was gone. :-(

I won’t get it back until the 19th of this month.
*sigh*
I know it’s only 4 days, but it’s gonna seem like forever!

I like stuff like:
“I shot an elephant in my pajamas.
How he got in my pajamas, I’ll never know!”
Groucho Marx

Or
“I shot a turkey today.
The people in the frozen food aisle were really upset!”

It will go by quickly. Maybe quicker for the rest of us than you, but it’ll be history before you know it lol!

“People used to be artists with the English language. We have lost so much of that, myself included. When you look at various quotes of famous people, smart people, of yesteryear, you see such eloquence.”

You’re very right, I don’t really ever see anything that’s worthy of passing on on other social media sites.

I guess the dumbing down has helped? In 1984 they were removing words from vocabulary, so that people wouldn’t be able to express themselves as well. And if they couldn’t do that then they couldn’t have the more advanced thought processes.

“Elon Musk calling President Trump for advice on a purchase, albeit a huge one? I did not have the impression they were particularly close, or even the least bit. A red flag flew up when I heard that one.”

I’d call that a green flag!

I’m glad your dentist got you in this morning! Having to wait even longer to get your smile fixed would be tough.

I’m remembering more now, didn’t you take him to the nursing home to visit his first owner? That must have been such a blessing to both him and the lady.

Just to let everyone know, Dolly’s phone is out of commission. The service comes and goes. I’m sure she’ll be back on as soon as she can.

Judy’s computer is having issues as well. I don’t think she has a backup method so hopefully she can get it fixed quickly.

Don’t everybody run off now!

I have an infrared device called Sinoriko

http://www.sinoriko.com

They don’t make the model i have anymore.
I used it on my thumbs until i found out it doesn’t work so hot for bone on bone.

but my better angel just had a reverse should replacement and this conversation made me think she could benefit from it.

Course, she wont do anything unless her doctor says it’s ok.

good luck on your hunt
