Remington flees to a free state
American Thinker ^ | 21 Feb, 2024 | Mike McDaniel

The recent judgement for fraud against Donald Trump in a New York City Court, in a dollar amount higher than the GNP of some countries despite no one being defrauded, has revealed something many Americans didn’t know: New York State is driving out its most productive, tax-producing citizens and businesses. What happens to a state that, for leftist political reasons, purposely destroys its tax base? What happens to that self-defunding state when its federal Democrat/socialist/communist (D/s/c/) allies open the borders and send tens, even hundreds, of thousands of illegal immigrants to take advantage of the state’s self-imposed sanctuary? New York is finding out, and isn’t much liking it.

New England, since before the founding of the republic, was American’s primary gun-producing region. No longer:

The Remington gun factory nestled in New York’s Mohawk Valley is ready to shutter its doors and move to Georgia after more than 200 years in the Empire State.

"Two hundred and eight years of history. Gone, gone," Ilion, New York, Mayor John P. Stephens told the New York Times. "Ilion is Remington. Remington is Ilion."

Remington is the nation’s oldest gun manufacturer and told union officials late last year that company chiefs at RemArms, the current version of Remington Arms, made the decision to end its New York manufacturing come March. The remaining operations located in Ilion will move to Georgia, where company leaders say the firearms industry is supported and welcomed.

Even after the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision, New York D/s/cs, who control every lever of power, have continued to write blatantly unconstitutional anti-liberty/gun laws. Some have been quickly struck down—there are some New York judges who follow the Constitution--but others are working their way to the Supreme Court. D/s/c states do this to inconvenience law-abiding normal Americans....

A good move for Remington. Just stay away from Atlanta.

Georgia is undependable.

Lots of permanent dim voters, but better than NY. Remington is moving to LaGrange, GA on the west side of the state near the Alabama border.

They may have done better moving to Alabama.

I remember all those stupid public service TV commercials when Andrew Cuomo was the governor trying to attract businesses to relocate to New York.

I would love to know how much money was spent and what the return on that investment was.

I really feel sorry for the people in upstate New York.

NYS “Economic Development” is the devil...Joke-chul just announced $5 million to “improve walkability” (TM) to a local upstate town population of 5000.

New York is fast becoming Venezuela. And today, how many manufacturing plants of ANYTHING remain in Cuba? North Korea comes to mind. Its industrial base is entirely dedicated to the support of the North Korean armed forces, and is entirely a state-owned industry.

New York City is turning into Dhaka, Bangladesh, overpopulated, growing urban poverty, and a repressive administration that operates by arbitrary and sometimes unlawful means, delivering municipal services in a capricious manner, becoming the target of civil rights abuses and deteriorating civil order.

Interesting link there. It’s bizarre to see Wyoming and West Virginia together at the tip of that list. Wyoming makes sense, but I can’t imagine what would make anyone think of West Virginia as a “conservative” state. WV probably has more white people on welfare than any place outside the UK, and consistently competes with Mississippi for recognition as Third World states in the U.S.

Knowing that Remington requires some geographic centering, I would have chosen West Virginia.

It’s a good move by Remington to get out, for they see the writing on the wall. If this judgement against Trump sticks, other cruel and unusual massive civil judgements will be dealt against others, and high on their target list will be weapons manufacturers.

Communist black robe tyrants could conceivably bankrupt much of the 2A industry leaving weapons and ammo scarce as hens teeth.

Repeat of post from a story about California tax revenue shortfall…

Use tax payer money to buy votes, run low on revenue and raise taxes. Do “feel good” programs like defund the police and not charging criminals resulting in higher crime rate. Allow all types of protests to make life difficult. Taxpayers start to leave for better places to raise children (you know “drag Queen free areas”), tax revenue decreases. Government starts to raise taxes, find more things to tax. More workers leave due to high cost of living (taxes of business runs down hill to customers). Government blames those leaving, creates the if you ever lived here you need to keep paying taxes even if you leave. Legislation proposed that those changing planes in an airport in the state should be added to if you visited here you need to pay taxes forever. Business next leaves, taking jobs and taxes…….. government still searches for something to tax……. If we could only get enough taxes we could buy enough votes to put in place government programs to reward voters with the “rich people’s” taxes……

That’s the Lib plan…..and they don’t see any problem! Well not enough rich people to tax, but that’s the only problem!

When New York bankrupts itself look for them to expect us to bail them out. Congress will approve it too.
