Yes, it will be classic niche movie. I’ve read that it is actually one of those movies that you need to watch at least a second time to pick up on things. I am sure they are right.
All good movies.
This time, I actually did see Oppenheimer and The Holdovers. They were overlong, but I liked both of them.
Oppenheimer deserves to sweep most categories, especially the technical ones: all effects were done “practically,” that is, without computer graphics.
In reality, though, what did Lewis Strauss’s nomination in wasn’t moral indignation against his undermining of Oppenheimer’s career, but one senator’s vindictiveness against Strauss (paralleling Strauss’s vindictiveness against Oppenheimer) and the Democrats need for a win. Still, Hollywood is never 100% accurate, and this film was more accurate than most.
The Holdovers was also great, but it left me wondering whether more editing have made it a better film, or a worse one. Do you put everything you can in, or do you try to streamline the story?
I did not like Asteroid City. It took quirkiness way too far.
Godzilla Minus One.
So good, I want to see it again.
Flower Moon was really boring. Easily an hour too long.
Three Words: Godzilla Minus One
And, this is why it will not see the light day at The Oscars.
You won’t see Mission Impossible either…which I thought was the most entertaining movie I saw this year. But there weren’t any gays or trannies, so unlike Barbie they won’t think of it.
The Hill is a fantastic Christian movie. Dennis Quaid was the main actor and incredible job as always. True story.
Another year where I haven’t seen anything nominated.

I haven’t seen any of this year’s nominations either. I’m not boycotting movies; it’s just that none attracted me. I often see at least one of the major films, but not this time around. Fortunately, missing one of these won’t have any impact on my life.
A conservative friend said he thought Barbie was a unintended ridicule of Wokeism. It’s a joke made during the funeral of Feminism.
Oppenheimer was one of the more boring movies I have seen.
My hubby said he was watching Barbie, did I want to see it? I’m not a movie person. I said no thank you, and challenged him to make it through to the end. He lasted 15-20 minutes. His last words were “I don’t believe I’ve ever seen that much pink.” Haha. Our daughter had one sleep over with friends. I thought I was going to have to knock him out, the giggling, screeching, screaming all was a bit too much for him. He could handle boys doing risky things but not girls playing games!

“Takao is a beast!”
I just checked out the trailer and some reviews — looks interesting. One commenter said it was sort of like Oppenheimer’s far out, zany brother.

The Oppenheimer movie still didn’t go far enough in regard to Oppenheimer’s flirtation with espionage.
A monster movie that actually has a people story?
Bonus!
I agree, totally gratuitous.
My shock is over Margot Robbie not getting a Best Actress nomination for Barbie. She WAS Barbie. She made that movie -- she was perfect in it. Ryan Gosling is nominated for Ken; but, Magot Robbie doesn't get nominated for "Barbie"???
Godzilla Minus One was much too traditional\conservative to get a much worthy Best Foreign Film nomination. It should actually be up for Best Picture as well. I knew it would get snubbed. Best movie of the decade!
