A recent study conducted by scientists at the University of Surrey suggests that climate change could be linked to increased prevalence of the common diarrhea illness campylobacteriosis in humans, as reported in MedicalXpress.
Campylobacteriosis is caused by bacteria from the Campylobacter genus, with the species C. jejuni and C. coli posing a significant risk to human health.
Transmission of Campylobacteriosis
The research focused on investigating the impact of elevated temperatures, longer days, and increased humidity - consequences of ongoing climate change - on the transmission of campylobacteriosis. The study's findings indicate a notable association between the warming planet and the incidence of this bacterial infection.
Dr. Giovanni Lo Iacono, Senior Lecturer in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Surrey, led the study. He emphasized the importance of understanding the environmental factors influencing the spread of diseases and highlighted the potential societal impacts of illnesses like campylobacteriosis.
Dr. Lo Iacono expressed that gaining insights into why weather conditions contribute to disease spread is a complex matter but crucial for predicting and managing outbreaks.
"We now have a detailed description of how the weather affects the disease, and the next step is to understand the why. Importantly, through our transparent and conceptually simple approach, we can now tell the risk of getting the disease when we know the recent local weather," Lo Iacono said in a statement.
The study involved analyzing data from approximately 1 million cases of campylobacteriosis in England and Wales over a 20-year period. A mathematical model was developed to compare this data with weather parameters provided by the Met Office.

Climate chqnge gave me the fantods. And gas.
Weather causes increase in it? That could very likely be. Thousands of acres of food product growing in the ever-warming sun. And third world workers out there picking it. Never washing hands and when they have to go, just squat down and dump-out and continue on picking. Yep, it’s the weather. Weather bad.
He was great.
Your gas is part of the problem. Might I suggest more Taco Bell bean burritos.
Amazing, isn't it? It's more powerful than God.
That information from Mann’s hockey stick model?
Remind me to buy more toilet paper, just in case.
Hell, I might even buy some Scott Tissue and Charmin stocks!
Yep, that would be it! Glad you got that into the first few comments.
Climate change causes ingrown toenails.
Climate change causes men to fall in love with ugly women.
Climate change causes retarded Swedish girls to think they are important.
Maybe all that diarrhea will lead to a use for it. Perhaps scientist will find a way to put it into cakes that will revolutionize the rechargeable battery. Then we will welcome Climate Change because it will produce more batteries! Maybe, there’s a future, where we can have our cake and eat it too.

The invasion of those from warmer climes have nothing to do with it. Right?
They’ve seemed to try floating the Extraterrestrial Alien Threat; but we don’t seem to be buying that.

It isn’t over yet. More UFO reports and more alien scifi movies should condition the sheep.
We the Peeps like UFO stories; we just don’t believe they’re ‘Outer Space-y.’
Not if you wash your hands regularly. What morons!

I liked shows like the original Star Trek. And some scifi shows are good entertainment.
I don’t think UFOs are from outer space either. I think they are appearing from another dimension. Probably demonic. What do you think they are?
I think they represent psychological phenomena.
(I don’t believe in ‘demons’.)
That’s fine. We all have our conjectures. So far, there doesn’t seem to be any concrete evidence of what UFOs are or represent. We might be surprised to learn that they fit some other weird category.
Some more recent ‘sightings’ might be modern technologies of ours or another’s.
But these sightings go back hundreds of years, and are recorded in writing and even in old paintings.
When I say ‘psychological phenomena’ I don’t mean that people who see these things are ‘crazy’.
I just think the sightings might represent something in the collective psychology that is preparing us for something or symbolizing something – just as dreams do.
Do you dream? Or, do you think that your dreams are ‘demons’, too?

Yes, I dream, and I don’t think of them as demons.
But honestly, I don’t get the “collective psychology going back hundreds of years” theory.
Well, I think we’re all connected, and connected to God. There’s probably only one Life in the Universe (God’s), it just seems that we’re all separated.
So...
