Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella, 19, has shared her brain cancer diagnosis. (GMA / ABC)
Michael Strahan’s 19-year-old daughter Isabella is undergoing treatment for medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor that starts in the lower part of the brain, the teen and her dad said in an interview that aired Thursday on “Good Morning America.”
The “GMA” co-anchor and his daughter opened up about her diagnosis, speaking with Strahan’s fellow host, cancer survivor Robin Roberts, who called it a “very emotional morning” at the ABC morning news show.
Isabella Strahan, who began her freshman year at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in the fall, said she began feeling sick with headaches and nausea in early October — symptoms she initially believed were related to vertigo.
On Oct. 25, however, after she “woke up throwing blood,” she realized her health had deteriorated. Her family encouraged her to speak to a doctor, who told her she needed to do a full checkup.
After performing exams including an electrocardiogram and an MRI, the doctor called the then-18-year-old and said she needed to head to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center immediately.
The tests revealed she had developed a fast-growing tumor that was larger than a golf ball and located in the back of her brain.
Hearing the news “didn’t feel real,” Michael Strahan recalled.
On Oct. 27, a day before her 19th birthday, Isabella underwent emergency surgery to remove the tumor.
“I’m feeling good. Not too bad,” said Isabella, who has just finished radiation therapy.
“And I’m very excited for this whole process to wrap. But you just have to keep living every day, I think, through the whole thing,” she said.
Next month, Isabella will start chemotherapy at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, N.C.
“That’s my next step,” she told Roberts. “I’m ready for it to start and be one day closer to being over.”
Hope for the best . . .
Prayers for this young lady and her family.
It seems that celebrities and rich people seem more prone to illnesses and cancers. I’m just wondering if an easy life facilitates illness?
I doubt the rich and celebrities are more likely to be inflicted. I bet this happens in a lot of non-rich families. It's just that the MSM and most people aren't interested in hearing about those stories. It speaks to the sad state of the infatuation with the rich and celebrities.
Here the video of her video- she seems like a lovely person:

I would also add that the non-rich are less likely to be able to afford the best in healthcare services, and they are possibly put near the end of the waiting list for such services.
Michael is a former New York Giants player.
I’ve noticed that a lot of football players children have these types of illnesses, especially Quarterbacks, for some reason.
I don’t know if it’s a connection or a coincidence............
So sad. Prayers for her and the family.
Poor thing
That is so sad. Prayers up for her and her family.
A HS classmate of mine had an inoperable brain tumor, which he succumbed to within a few quick years, before any of us had graduated college. Not rich by any means. Just middle class. He was a very nice guy, too. It was tragic.
Don’t get me wrong, it is unfortunate for whomever gets it. It’s just a correlation I noticed and wondered why.
Yes pray, most of us will face challenges as we age. At 19 this young lady has her whole life ahead of her. I will put her in my prayers, may God bless.
