Those who can...do.Those who can't...teach.And those who can't teach...teach gym.
I remember gym teachers and coaches in high school were were occasionally called on to substitute in a real class.

Out came the old film projector. Every time.

There was a time when judges would throw out stupid cases. But in a world where fifty-year-old men can compete against thirteen-year-old girls and dress out in their locker room, nothing is considered stupid anymore.

I was one of the designated operators for the projectors. It was a handy skill that I leveraged into a fund raiser for my scout troop. The elementary school permitted use of the auditorium on Saturday. I rented the projector and a popular film and purchased lots of popcorn. Always filled the seats and netted a profit for the scout troop. That was feasible in 1970. Not very likely in 2024. After attaining Eagle Scout in April 1972, I moved on to other pursuits.

actually you are correct. None of my Gym teachers ran the course or did jumping jacks with us. They just told us to do them and we did it.
Plus in HS most of the middle age coaches that doubled at Gym teachers had big beer bellies I really doubt any of them could do one push up.
So as long as this guy knows the curriculum what is the problem?

They should have accepted the application, maybe even let him get to round 2, before he is told that someone else was chosen. It is not like he is going to have some qualification to make another selection unjustified.
