MTA police officers fatally shot a parolee armed with a loaded Uzi machine pistol in the head as they tried to arrest him late Friday for groping a 19-year-old woman in Queens, authorities said.
The armed parolee, identified by police sources as Bashe McDaniel, had done five stints in prison, mostly for weapons possession and was convicted of manslaughter in 1990, according to court records.
The woman entered MTA’s Long Island Rail Road headquarters on 91st St. in Jamaica, next door to Jamaica Station at about 10 p.m. Friday and claimed that McDaniel had groped her, MTA Chief of Police John Mueller said at a press conference.
The woman said the stranger, who was wearing a baseball cap with the word “Killa” on it, had blocked her path and grabbed her breasts, officials said. She had managed to snap a photo of him before reporting the incident to police.
MTA cops went looking for the suspect, and quickly found McDaniel steps from Jamaica Station and Long Island Rail Road headquarters.
The 52-year-old man was wearing a distinctive jacket with a letter “B” on it that had been described by the victim, Mueller said. He was also a match for the man in the photo the victim shared with cops.
“We showed him a picture of himself that the victim of the forcible touching took,” Mueller said.
The two MTA officers — whose body-worn cameras were turned on — tried to arrest McDaniel, but he put up a struggle, Mueller said.
“He refused to put his hands behind his back,” the police chief said.
The officers Tased him, but McDaniel managed to get off a shot with the Uzi, which police said was equipped with a 30-round magazine.
In the ensuing shooting the officers returned fire, fatally striking the suspect...

BS! It's more than likely the Semi-auto version......
However, the article also exclusively referred to the weapon as a MAC-10, not an Uzi.
Wonder what drug he was on
This has to be fake news. That gun would be ILLEGAL in New York!
Universal background checks would have stopped this! 😂😂😂😂👍
New York cops actually killed a purp, sounds real good.
That was quite a sentence. Head holsters don’t seem tactically useful, unless an LEO demands that you put your hands on your head. Then it might come in handy.
Enforcement of the Sullivan Law too…..
Yeah
The UZI has that rippled frame as does the
Mini-UZI.
.
Oh Well give me a 10-22.
You guys have nailed it, that’s a MAC-10.
I still regret I didn’t manage to scrounge up enough money for one when I was a poor college student, and they were being made nearby.
Story has changed. Now it’s a MAC-10. And the picture looks like a MAC.
“but McDaniel managed to get off a shot with the Mac-10, which police said was equipped with a 30-round magazine.”
Why don’t they just make machine pistols illegal in Queens to stop this sort of thing? If it only saves one life. Do it for the children. If only they had done this Bashe would be alive today, probably working on his Rap career or getting ready to turn his life around. Just ban the fully automatic Usis New York.
Yuppers
Got the same feeling about a silly little
MP-5 back in the day....
That downloaded Real Good !
I am surprised that a convicted felon on parole was able to purchase such a deadly firearm or any firearm given that state's gun control laws. Oh, that is right, gun control laws are only to keep honest people from getting firearms.
At least the multiple felony criminal who shot at police with an illegal firearm, will never be a menace to anyone again.
Oh, nice, well played.
We all regret not buying that firearm years ago when it was such a good deal. Except it is all relative when it comes to prices. A Uzi purchased 30 years ago cost the same as at least half your monthly salary at the time.
Uzi 9mm Semi-automatic pistol. It’s very clumsy and top-heavy to handle if you don’t know what you’re doing. People buy it b/c it looks cool, but it’s a bitch to fire if you are not tactically skilled.
I did that one way back in 1999.
