Russian Forces Take Heavily Fortified Town of Maryinka in Biggest Triumph Since Bakhmut
The year is ending on an upbeat note for the Russian Federation troops that have just conquered the heavily fortified town of Maryinka, in the outskirts of Donetsk city.
This is a major development, the biggest since Moscow troops regained the initiative, and also the greatest achievement since they gained control of Avdiivka (Bakhmut) in May.
By taking Maryinka, the Russians have significantly pushed back the Ukrainian artillery. For years, Kiev used Maryinka has a key launching pad for drone and artillery strikes against civilians in Donetsk.

On 24 August 2022 it was reported Novocherkassk and sister ship Caesar Kunikov were out of action due to lack of spare parts to repair the ships. The lack of spare parts was attributed to the sanctions imposed on Russia.[9]
On 26 December 2023, the ship was reportedly destroyed by the Ukrainian Air Force.[10][11]

I just saw the video of this attack on YT....wow! The ship must have been loaded with munitions when it blew up!
These articles really like to hype things up.
The Novocherkassk was a Ropucha-class landing ship. Currently, the Russian Navy apparently has 19 landing ships actively registered (Novocherkassk included).
Its loss, if accurate, is a blow. But a “major strategic” blow?
I doubt Russia’s strategy for a largely land/air war is going to change to such a degree because of the loss of one landing ship.
Actually it was a large runaway Russian made ceiling cooling device with bad bearings that destroyed it. So it can be said that the ship hit the fan.
What is the point of Roooskies occupying Crimea when the Rooskie Black Sea navy cannot even dock there? Without being sunk.
