Taylor Swift attends Anti-Israeli fundraiser for Gaza...............
Actually, in terms of fame, she’s handled it better than anyone I can think of in a LONG LONG time that has become so famous and successful from such a young age.
By and large she has stayed out of politics, built a fan base the likes of which no one in music today can even come close to.
She was something like 14 when she got her recording contract and 15/16 when she started charting top 10 hits. She is now, what? 34 years old... and is around 2 decades into her professional career and for the most part has avoided the pitfalls of fame and fortune that have destroyed many many in the music and entertainment industry.
She’s done it not by relying on sexualization, and other things that many younger girls and women do in that industry as well.
Honestly given the industry she is in and the success she has had from such a very young age, she certainly has shown herself to be far more grounded that folks in entertainment that are double her age.
I don’t know who helped guide her through her success, particularly when she was very young, but at least publicly, she has never come across as someone who is too full of themselves, but they clearly should be commended IMHO. Could that be an act? Sure, it could be, and I am sure some of it is, but if after 2 decades of being constantly in the public eye with the fish bowl that is fame today, I’m personally very hard pressed to think its all just an act when she is aware the cameras are on her. That’s too long with the never ending attention that Fame brings today for anyone to keep a full act up nonstop.
Not the biggest fan of her music, but honestly of Entertainers today, she’s one of the few hugely successful ones that seems to have a brain on her shoulders, and has remained at least somewhat grounded.
I mean we can make a list a mile long of girls who grew up in entertainment who just went off the rails .. Brittany, Agulera, Cyrus... Some have managed to get back on track.. but those crazy off the rails periods that all of them went through, I know of no equivalent for Taylor Swift...
And that may be while she has become far far more successful for far longer than the rest of them.
Deep State Handmaiden
👍👍
See post 21...
Don’t have to like her music, but she’s not a bimbo by any stretch of the imagination.
Without regard to Taylor, being anti-Israel carries with it an excusing, overlooking, or actually supporting the savagery of Hamas.
Like all cultures, the Jews aren’t perfect, but I can’t muster an ounce of support for the savage culture of Hamas.
Does it matter? It’s all bad.
“I don’t listen to any music made after 1970.”
That would be me, too.
I think she’s beautiful in a one-dimensional, zero-depth kind of way. I have no clue about her music.
“she has become far far more successful for far longer than the rest of them.“
I attribute that to her OCD
Oh come on, time to be serious.
There is a far cry from trying to naively try to offer humanitarian aid to civilian refugees... and claiming Israel is involved in genocide.
I am all for the complete elimination of Hamas... I am for removing the entire scourge that is fundamentalist Islam from the planet wholesale... though I know realistically that is not going to happen. However, that doesn’t mean that wanting to help those people stuck in the middle of this conflict as the victims of war is the same as supporting Hamas or Islam.
Equating calling Israel a genocidal nation, with trying to help (even if it is naively) the civilians caught in war, is ludicrous.
IF it isn’t then the Red Cross, Is effectively a terrorist organization by proxy by that view.. and no I won’t subscribe to that insanity.
She’s very pro-abortion, and told her followers to vote against Marsha Blackburn a couple years ago.
I agree with everything you said. I couldn’t tell you a single thing about her, and I couldn’t name a single song of hers, but I do know she’s been generous.
Just a few months back she gave 50 million in bonuses to her Eras tour crew — something I’ve never heard of before, especially in that amount, from an entertainer. And she recently gave $1M to the Tennessee tornado victims. She’s generous, which in my mind shows she’s grateful for her success.
Her Father Scott. I knew Scott and her Grandfather decades ago. They were blue bloods, but a hard working family.
I don't know about this appearance, but I agree w/ you on how she has handled fame. When you look around, and remember music history, it's hard to imagine someone doing it any better.
.....footsteps.....footsteps....the beta males...
Well, we know the hearts of these people. The Palestinian civilian victims caught in the middle would murder us in a heartbeat if they had the chance. The children will be doing that in 10-15 years, anyhow.
P.S. The Red Cross is a HORRIBLE (not sure “terrorist”) organization.
She is not that young. She should know better. Opposing mass murderers is a no-brainer.
A few years ago, the very pale YT Swift was accused of being an alt.right favorite. She has been working against this ever since. Her father manages her career and its finances. __________ So going to this Gaza fundraiser with her diverse buddies is more of this. As in Swift tilts left and brings in even more money from her dumb female fan base. Which is not just women but loads of 12 year old girls. Swift is an icon to these female tweens. Swift is a major cultural phenomenon, and her father is not going to let her blow it now.
Plus her music sucks.
Effluent is the right term.
Perhaps it is all “stars” these days, but every non-performance news photo I ever see of her has the “worship me” vibe to it. You know... mouth slightly open in a tense non-smile, disdainful squinty eyes looking down at the plebes. Even in the staged paparazzi photos of private walks. That alone would give reason to avoid, even if her music wasn’t also trash.
Ten years from now her only fans will be aging queens.
She is loved by the younger set but we “oldsters” don’t/can’t understand the attraction - any more than we understood Madonna when we were much younger than we are now. All I can say is they don’t know what GOOD MUSIC is. If you can’t whistle the tune or understand the words, it’s not music! It’s all about NOISE now!
