The police won't protect you; you're on your own
American Thinker ^ | 13 Dec, 2023 | Mike McDaniel

Reality has a way of asserting itself. Post-October 7, American Jews have begun to realize the democrat/Socialist/Communist Party really isn’t their friend, won’t protect them, and is actually allied with monsters that want to kill every Jew. It took until November 15, however, for FBI Director Christopher Wray to admit to Congress that golly, there are thousands, maybe tens of thousands of likely terrorists crossing the border and that might be kind of a problem, like, you know, a terrorist problem maybe?

A problem indeed, on top of another problem: when it comes to personal safety we’re on our own. We always have been. The Supreme Court case is Castle Rock v. Gonzalez (2005).

June 22, 1999, 5:00 p.m., Castle Rock, Colorado: Jessica Gonzalez’s three daughters, 7, 9, and 10, were playing in her yard. Violating a custody agreement and a restraining order, her estranged husband took the girls. At 7:30 p.m. Jessica called the police. She showed them copies of the custody agreement and the restraining order and begged them to return her daughters, but they told her they could do nothing and to call again at 10:00 PM if the girls weren’t home.

Why 10 PM? Shift change. It’s a common tactic police use to push calls they don’t want to deal with onto the next shift.

Jessica spoke with Gonzalez by phone at about 8:30, again called the police who again refused to act. She called them again at 10:00 and midnight. Again they did nothing.

Jessica couldn’t find her estranged husband, and called the police at 1:10 a.m. They promised to send an officer, but again ignored her. At 1:50 a.m. she went to the police station and begged them to make an incident report. The officer taking her complaint did something: he went to dinner.

Should have added this to the posting.

? I had to trim it down to less than 300 words due to the excerpt posting limit.

My father used to say that if heard a prowler outside, call 911 and tell them there is a prowler but you are armed and can take care of it but please send an ambulance. The police will show up instantly, and scare the prowler off.

Yes, sadly these animals are still alive. Living off of my tax
dollars.

Reginald Carr, 44, and Jonathan Carr, 41, were condemned to death by lethal injection in 2002 in Sedgwick County District Court for capital murder in the gunshot killings in Wichita of Jason Befort, 26; Aaron Sander, 29; Heather Muller, 25; and Brad Heyka, 27.

Different animals. In Cold Blood is about the murder of the Clutter family.

Who killed the clutters In Cold Blood?

Two ex-convicts, Perry Smith and Richard Hickock, were found guilty of the murders and sentenced to death. They were both executed on April 14, 1965. The murders were detailed by Truman Capote in his 1966 non-fiction novel In Cold Blood.

Professional police officers want to save lives, they want to be heroes, but there are very few of them, lots of criminals and far more citizens.

I am going to argue with that.

Yes, they "want to be heroes" but there is not enough actual crime for them to do that. Certainly not the "get your face on TV" crime. And there is the other side of it, they might get hurt and the mantra of the police is "Above all it is important that I get home safe". Are there police officers who ignore this manta and do their job? Yes. No doubt about it. Are they the majority? Honestly, not sure.

What is sure is that in the name of "Officer Safety" we are allowing the police to turn off their brains and follow policies that, while appropriate under some conditions are certainly not appropriate to all. The Elise Brown case is one where the police should have engaged brain before acting.

And as to there being "very few police" not really. They certainly seem to come out of the woodwork for non-crimes and civil offenses. Six police for a noise complaint, eight for what was at most a D&D, and ten for a guy watering his friend's flowers. (No euphemism, old guy in the yard, with a hose, watering flowers)

Are there a "lot" of criminals? Crime is actually going down in most of the country even as more and more places "beef up" their police forces. This leads to, once again, there being very few opportunities for the police to play the hero.

We have so few criminals that the fed gov is kindly importing any number of them to give the police something to do. Which seems to be, arrest the citizen who defends himself.

So I am going to disagree with this part of the article although not with the overall concept that you have to depend on yourself because the police will mostly not help you.

Not, I think, what he meant to say but it is what he said.

HELLER V. DC Cops have no mandate to protect INDIVIDUALS, only to maintain general order in society.

In the first comment, a person who claims to be a retired LEO and has “a little knowledge on this subject” and obviously did not read the entire article, suggests that the woman sue the police department. Which is exactly what she did and the Supreme Court ruled - once again - that the police have no duty to act.

They have no duty to protect the individual. Their duty is to the public as a whole. As the title says, YOU are ultimately responsible for the safety of your and your family.

Even that is no guarantee. I moved to one of the most conservative areas in my state, the wealthiest, lowest crime area I could find, and it was great for about 25 years.

In the last several years, I have noticed a visible change. Apparently, Obama's plan to infiltrate the suburbs is proceeding apace. Large apartment complex have been going up by the dozens. Aimless-looking "teens" are now wandering around everywhere I go.

And don't think high-priced rents are any protection:;Section 8 housing vouchers pay the prevailing market rates for housing in any particular area.

Actually their only “legal duty” they have is to protect the political entity that employs them.

In the United State of America the Police have NO LEGAL DUTY to protect the citizens, See Supreme Court of Despots.

🎯 The police will do paperwork, call the morgue, and tape off the scene.

That's ALL the police do at crime scenes anymore.,p> Despite the USSC's ruling, it's ALWAYS been true that the police are NOT here to protect us, they never have been. We've ALWAYS been on our own.

When seconds count, the police are minutes away. Fact.

Praise the Lord, pass the ammo.

All the Colorado cops are going to do is eat the hell out of you. Or put you in the back of a Police Car and let a freight train hit you. Don’t beat that, watch you tube. They particularly enjoy beating the hell out of old ladies with dementia.

Yes, I’ve moved 4 times in 25 years. Latest place still great so far after 4 years, farming community. Was available to stay 17 years in one spot but wanted small-town country life instead of suburbia/traffic.
