Ten Israeli soldiers, including a high-ranking official, were killed while fighting Hamas forces in the Gaza strip yesterday.

Lieutenant Colonel Tomer Grinberg, 35, Major Roei Meldasi, 23, Major Moshe Avram Bar-On, 23, Sergeant Achia Daskal, 19, Captain Liel Hayo, 22, Major Ben Shelly, 26, Major Rom Hecht, 20, Sergeant Oriya Yaakov, 19, Eran Aloni, 19, and Itzhak Ben Basat, 24, died amid battles in Gaza City's Shajaiya neighbourhood.

Several of the servicemen were killed by an explosive device, while the remaining soldiers were gunned down by Hamas fighters after being cut off from the rest of their troop, according to Israeli media.

It marks the worst loss of life in a single day for the Israeli Defense Forces since they launched their operation in response to Hamas' ruthless October 7 attacks.

At least 115 Israeli soldiers have died since ground operations began in Gaza in late October.

But 18,412 Palestinians have been killed during the Israeli attacks since the war began, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Five of the Israeli soldiers killed in battle in the northern Gaza strip were in the Golani Brigade, including Lieutenant Colonel Grinberg who was the commander of the 13th Battalion.

Major Meldasi, a company commander in the 13th Battalion, Major Bar-On a company commander in the 51st Battalion, Sergeant Daskal a fighter in the 51st Battalion and Captain Hayo a platoon commander in the 51st Battalion were also killed.

Major Shelly and Major Rom Hecht of the Special Rescue Tactical Unit died in the same battle in the Shahja'iya neighborhood.

US pressure may be motivating the IDF to act recklessly and cost Jewish lives for the sake of speed.

Netanyahu’s Shalit deal, sucking up to Pres. Obama, has cost over 1300 Jewish lives and rising.

The media seems to have a strange sense of glee at this loss of life. Its war, Israelis will mourn the loss but not whine with some false sense of victimhood.. I was surprised to read that only 18% of Gazas infrastructure was destroyed. Maybe time to crank it up to 50%.

in the hope that it will deter the next bunch.

Hard to do unless you kill their entire family, neighbors, their chickens, dogs, etc. You have to wipe out the next of vipers to the last. Nits make lice.

Why doesn’t Hamas claim they’ve killed several thousand IDF troops? The media could use that to stir up discontent with Netanyahu’s government?

“after being cut off from the rest of their troop”

Correction:

after “getting” cut off from the rest of their troop

Lets not give Hamas any undue credit.

>> There are no good options when dealing with deranged terrorists except to make their demise as painful on them as possible in the hope that it will deter the next bunch.

That’s an acceptable criterion for success, but even better would be to utterly wipe out every Hamas member and supporter, at whatever cost in “collateral damage” is required. So that zero terrorists remain to be deterred.

Bummer to lose so many, but pretty much makes Israel’s case, which is that they MUST complete their mission.

...My favorite part of the article...

In most wars the enemy lies about what was lost. For those that believe in life the lies minimize their losses. What makes war against Mozlems different is that the lies say they lost more than reality. Islam is a worship of death.

Several IDF special forces soldiers died in the raid which recovered the bodies. It sounds like the IDF had intelligence about their location, but the hostages were killed before they could be rescued.

The soldier that had been held “hostage” died on Oct. 7th during the Hamas attack and Israel knew that at the time. Israel considers even the deceased to be held hostage.

I didn’t make the comment from a hate Trump perspective. I love him. I just think, he could hammer the Potato in Chief on this issue. Uses his bullhorn to keep the atrocities of hamasnazis in the news cycle and vasically call on them to surrender or face the consequences. Because I’m not in the U.S, maybe he does and I don’t see it. I repeat, I love Donald Trump
