I grew up in the 70's, the worst part was Jimmy Carter.

The 70s were indeed miserable, but the current 20s just out of the gate are making a fast run at the title.

Do you agree or disagree with our sentiment? Let us know in the comments below.

The 60's/70's had the best music, so there's that.

I was a teenager in the 70s. I thought it was pretty good, actually.

I’d say the 1930s had misery to spare.

It was another planet, a distant planet —from which those of us who dwelt there have been forever exiled via the cruel train of time.

In 1970, a gallon of gas cost 36 cents.
Prices at a 1970s McDonalds: French Fries - $0.26 Big Mac - $0.65 Coke - $0.15

But Jimmy Carter brough forth Ronald Reagan. Darn shame we didn't get Reagan instead of Gerald Ford in 1976, which gave us Carter in the first place.

Selections for elections have consequences, but the GOPe keeps trying to push the narrative that they know better then their base. Problem is, what is better, means better for them, not their base.

From the article:

1979: Saddam Hussein becomes president of Iraq.
1979: Iranian Revolution
1979: Americans held hostage in the US embassy at Tehran
1979:

Note that this is from Penn Live. So maybe the one they left blank for 1979 was something that happened on Jan 1, 1979 -- the Sugar Bowl between #1 ranked Penn State vs #2 ranked Bama.

Except for a couple of things, the 70’s were great. I’d take them over the 20’s so far

If you were lucky to go to H.S. in the early mid 70’s you snuck in just under the wire when the teachers went full on Leftist indoctrinators.

Actually, the 70's were the last great decade. And even if you hated disco, without disco, there could not have been Disco Demolition Night, which the single greatest promotion at a baseball game ever.

The movies were the best, from The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, Jaws, Outlaw Josey Wales, Chinatown, Blazing Saddles and list could go on and on.

Music? Just the year 1973 was among the best ever- Dark Side of the Moon, Houses of the Holy, Quadrophenia, Raw Power. And many more exceptional albums came out that year.

Most of the cars sucked in the 70's but we still had Chevelles, Camaros, Mustangs, and the Barracuda.

No internet, so we played outside, and read real books. The government didn't spy on U S citizens. The sports heroes were real tough guys-Nolan Ryan, Vida Blue, Thurman Munson, Roger Staubach, Mean Joe Greene, Ken Stabler and O.J. Simpson.

You could smoke on a plane, at school, and at the movie theatre.

A bag of marijuana was $10.00. Pinball arcades were all over. The Farrah Fawcett poster.
