While looking at the photos of the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Agnes in 1972, it occurred to us that the 1970s were just awful.
Worst decade ever.

I grew up in the 70's, the worst part was Jimmy Carter.

The 70s were indeed miserable, but the current 20s just out of the gate are making a fast run at the title.

A lot of weird stuff happened in the 1940s

Do you agree or disagree with our sentiment? Let us know in the comments below. The 60's/70's had the best music, so there's that.

I was a teenager in the 70s. I thought it was pretty good, actually.

I’d say the 1930s had misery to spare.

It was another planet, a distant planet —from which those of us who dwelt there have been forever exiled via the cruel train of time.

So far, I have disliked almost everything in the 21st century.

In 1970, a gallon of gas cost 36 cents.
Prices at a 1970s McDonalds: French Fries - $0.26 Big Mac - $0.65 Coke - $0.15

But Jimmy Carter brough forth Ronald Reagan. Darn shame we didn't get Reagan instead of Gerald Ford in 1976, which gave us Carter in the first place.
Selections for elections have consequences, but the GOPe keeps trying to push the narrative that they know better then their base. Problem is, what is better, means better for them, not their base.

Until you come to the disco eraTrue, I'd go to the disco and have to choose among dozens of hot chicks who wanted to dance....Lots of pressure.

From the article:
1979: Saddam Hussein becomes president of Iraq.
1979: Iranian Revolution
1979: Americans held hostage in the US embassy at Tehran
1979:
Note that this is from Penn Live. So maybe the one they left blank for 1979 was something that happened on Jan 1, 1979 -- the Sugar Bowl between #1 ranked Penn State vs #2 ranked Bama.
