A memory refresher .... it was about 2 am with wind and 0-degree temps in the liberal part of town when the 2 Trump supporters wearing red Trump baseball caps, spotted the bundled-up Smollett clutching a just-purchased Subway tuna sub.
The attackers supposedly recognized Smollett from a TV show that no Trump supporter in his right mind would have ever seen.
The two musclemen attacked the skinny actor Smollett with a handy container of bleach they were carrying “just in case” a 2 am situation like this ever arose.
And, after the strongarm attack by the two big guys, wonder of wonders, Smollett emerged, unscathed.....with his tuna sub firmly in his hand, ready to eat once he got home......after calling the cops.
Great summary, but you forgot the noose the “perpetrators” apparently always carried around in case they happened to come across an acceptable victim, which Smollett conveniently continued to wear for some reason or another until he reported the “incident”.
Darn it......I keep forgetting the “attackers”

Yeah, but I’m not sure a lamp post could have delivered
the requisite racist message as well as a tree branch.
I had other customers in mind for the lampposts - no shortage of such in Chicago.

... and leaving the rope around his neck, so that he could better show them what those horrible MAGA freaks did to him. THAT, alone, I’m quite sure told the cops that it was a hoax— no way anyone would have ever done such a thing after a genuine beat down.
