With one of the oldest model nameplates still rolling around, the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban SUV doesn't do much to rock that boat. Only mildly refreshed, it remains gigantic and boxy—the longer-wheelbase version of the Tahoe. Upgrades include an improved diesel option and a more modernized interior.
All of the Suburban's six trims benefit from an updated front fascia with slimmer DRLs. Premier and High Country Suburbans get new walk-up and walk-away light animations as standard. Plus, Chevy is introducing two new exterior colors: Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Cypress Gray. Finally, new and optional 24-inch wheels can be fitted to RST and High Country trims.

Not interested in GOV motors.
Plus they still have the plastic nose and rear bumper cap that flaps in the breeze. Man that just screams cheap.
Ghetto wheels? Guess we know the target audience.
Mom had a 1978 Suburban, last one I liked. Had chrome bumpers front and rear.

I can turn them off in my 2018 Toyota Avalon, but not in my 2004 Chevy Venture minivan. If you leave your keys in the ignition, it drains the battery. If you sit with your keys in the ignition, listening to the radio, it drains the battery faster than just the radio.
My Venture has a defective DRL module, so the turn signal blinks way too fast. Guess what GM stopped making, even though almost ALL of them fail after a few years? No aftermarket version either, and no workaround that I know of.

My 2004 is from before they became government motors. I don't mind "cheap" plastic trim parts if that is reflected in the final price and doesn't affect the performance of the drivetrain. I am just sorry they stopped making the cars I liked (the last one was a 1994 Buick Roadmaster Wagon).

I don’t need a double screen display or walk-up and walk-away light animations, or any lights at all for that matter. I don’t need a diesel engine or an 8-speed transmission. I just stick my feet down through the floor of my Flintmobile and scamper away accompanied with comical scrabbling noises. It has a steering wheel, but with just a long rolling rock for the front wheels, it can’t turn anyway. I only go to places that are in a straight line. Dagnabit!

Unplug them?...........
Nice thought, but fully integrated into the main lights, so that doesn't work.

Yeah, I worry about that regarding electronic modules on many/most new cars. I tend to own cars for a long-ish time.

Body on frame, like the Armada. I see a lot of moms in QX80s. Not as many as in Lexus RXs, but a lot.

There is usually a procedure for turning them off. Look in the owners manual or online. It’s usually some convoluted process like turn key on, press brake three times, turn key off and of rapidly 4 times, leave on, press accelerator twice. Start car.
I’m serious. But then they stay off. Lots of cops know those hacks. Kinda sucks for them to sit, idling in a car on a dark lot trying to be incognito and have those headlights on.

They’re required in Canada...don’t know about Mexico. So in order to maximize flexibility in North America most manufacturers install them for sale in the US.

"I wish GM wasn’t so in love with [Day time running lights]". It isn't love, it's safety. DRLs reduce daytine accidents by 10%. GM put them on in the 90s to enhance customer safety, in spite of a quarter mile per gallon fuel economy penalty.

Then give me the option to turn them off.
Oh, and don't make the controller an $80 computer module instead of a simple relay.
If you insist on the computer module, make enough spares for the 90% that fail after a few years of use, and don't have the dopey computer module tie in with the turn signals, so they act crazy.
Don't have the DRL drain the battery when you are trying to start the car on a weakened battery.
And do something for people who have to go on military bases at night, or are in crowded subdivisions where turning the lights on shines in someone's bedroom.
