CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Why were the chickens all over the road? That's a question many Chattanooga drivers were faced with on Rossville Boulevard Monday morning.
Those live chicken apparently fell off of a truck transporting them. But right now, it's still unclear exactly what happened, but we're working to learn more.

Jessica White of Jasper says she pulled out her camera as she approached an unusual sight: dozens of chickens, some of them still living, all over the road. Some drivers slowed down to let the chickens cross the road. Others didn't.

I mean, it was just nuts,' White told us on Tuesday. 'It was obvious that there was a truck that they must have fell out over something, you know, but it was, it was shocking to see that's for sure. White's video shows the chickens were spread across at least a city block.

A representative for the McKamey Animal Center tells us that one of their animal protection officers responded to find around twenty dead chickens. They called the city's Public Works Department to remove the carcasses from the road.
White tells us she never saw a chicken truck when she drove past.

Right now we're still working to learn what company was transporting these chickens and how they came to fall off the truck.
We also are working to learn what happened to the chickens that fell off the truck and survived the ordeal.
Right now they are trying to figure out why so many chickens tried to cross the road.
Sad situation, as a couple look like they’ve just been ‘tenderized’ by vehicle tires,
The culprits...............
I swear, as God is my witness...
As can be seen from the first picture, they jumped off the truck so they could hold a rally at McDonalds protesting the slaughter of chickens used to make McNuggets.
There’s hamburger all over the highway in Mystic Connecticut.
Looks like some of those chickens did not cross the road. As for the driver, I suspect fowl play.
Poultry in motion.

We got it the first time!
A lot of those chickens look DEAD to me.
Who are they? They look familiar
They died of embarrassment

Oh my, those poor girls!
(I’ve got few of my own so they’re not just poultry to me.)
Now you’ve done it. I’ve got a song coming on:
O little town of BethleHEN
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent cars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight
*sniff*
🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔
Tis the season (because there’s that very passage about chickens) —
“For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me hens-forth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.”
Gotta get to other side!
(Arthur Carlson and Herb Tarlek)
Lol I missed the sign- I’d be a terrible eye witness
Thanks ‐ I thought they looked familiar- if Ida seen the sign behind em, I woulda known, but im not too observant sometimes.
There are a lot of chicken farms that raise chickens for the Tyson Food processing plant in the area.
