The Russian speaking East, with it’s rich farmland and mineral resources, has been annexed. NATO can keep the rest, including Kiev. Why would Russia want to govern people who are takers rather than workers?

LukeL: "This war is about a sliver of land in part of Europe that has traded hands multiple times over the past 300 years.
The idea of a peaceful Europe that respects each other’s borders is a myth.
1946-1991 was an anomaly in time.
What happened in Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia is the norm."

UMCRevMom@aol.com : "I appreciate your on-topic thoughtful comment. Thanks"

Thoughtful, maybe, but still raw Russian propaganda sewage.
The whole truth is vastly different.

Vlad the Invader's "special military operations" in Ukraine are not just a "border dispute", they are not just about "a sliver of land" in Ukraine.
They are not even all about Ukraine.
Rather, they are all about Vlad the Invader's New Russian Empire building, to intimidate & force countries of the Old Soviet or Tsarist Russian Empire to submit to Vlad the Invader's rule.

More than even that, it's all about a new Axis of Evil -- Russia, China, Iran and NoKo -- which has gelled together in response to perceived declines in American specifically and Western generally global influences.
As we are perceived weaker, they grow ever more aggressive against small countries like Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

We can be certain that every loss for us is a gain in their powers and their evil designs on smaller neighbors.

In historical terms, today is similar to the mid-1930s, when imperialists, fascists and Nazis were marching worldwide, while we stood around with our heads planted firmly in the sand saying, "it's not our war".

So, we can ignore Ukraine today, and ignore Israel tomorrow and ignore Taiwan next month, but they will never be the last.
For aggressive dictators like Vlad the Invader, the CCP's Xi-snake, NoKo's Little Kim and Iran's Moolah Mullahs, there are always new victims to attack, new territories to be conquered, so long as nobody has the courage to stop them.

As for Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia, they were formed out of the collapse of Old Yugoslavia, which sadly was not as peaceful as the Old Soviet Union's collapse.
Nevertheless, those new countries are now free and independent, protected by their allies from outside aggression and nobody has sought to reconstitute the old Yugoslavia.

That is far from the case with Vlad the Invader's reborn Russian Empire and former Soviet countries, now freed at last but again threatened by Russian imperial ambitions.

That's the whole truth of this matter.

bimboeruption: "God have mercy on those fighting that needless war.
Peace talks should have taken place months ago."

I am convinced there would be no war, period, in Ukraine had Donald Trump been reelected in 2020.
Vlad the Invader's "special military operation" was the direct result of American weakness and perfidy on full display in Afghanistan in summer of 2021.

As Vlad's invasions started, peace talks were being held with Ukraine and resulted in proposed agreements, the first of which Vlad himself rejected because he now wanted much more of Ukraine.
Later potential agreements Ukrainians turned down, likely based on Pres. Biden's pledge to support Ukraine, "for as long as it takes".

Today western support for Ukraine seems to be wavering, and that has always been Vlad the Invader's strategy for victory -- hang on at whatever cost in Russian lives until, in effect, the West runs out of courage and Ukrainians run out of bullets, then march in and take what he wants.

And, who knows, Vlad's plan for victory might work.
But that is not yet known for certain.

I believe that the FR comment posted below illustrates the basic mentality that drives most Youcrayniacs’ undying love and strident, but laughable, propagandizing for one of Europe's most corrupt nations and its grifting, gay-dancing, satanist-appointing, piano dick-playing, running-around-naked-in-grocery-stores, kleptocratic, globalist puppet "leader."

That’s it, of course. And we regular FReepers and the Slavic propagandists have such different mindsets that we’re never going to see eye to eye.

They’re fully invested in this stuff. They’re not the sharpest tools in the shed, but I think they’re mostly smart enough to know that they’re pushing flat-out propaganda. They live and breathe this stuff. They’re the people you see coming towards you on the street and you hastily cross the street or duck around the corner to avoid getting trapped by their obsessive talk.

We, on the other hand, are more balanced and are merely irritated at their attempts to dominate a good conservative forum by smearing their noxious propaganda all over it 24/7. Their atrocious behavior when Israel was attacked last month confirmed that.

I believe the majority of us hate seeing the slaughter of humans and the destruction of a nation. We feel for the people whose lives have been shattered by grief, by losing their homes and their livelihoods. There are a few really unbalanced zeepers who have demonstrated that they enjoy the death and destruction and some even gleefully post it here, but I believe the majority of us find it tragic and unnecessary.

Most of us who are not obsessed with this stuff tried to discuss things with the obsessed early on and were called ridiculous things like “Putin puffer, Comrade, Bolshevik” and things along that line. We learned that attempts to have rational discussions with these people were futile. These people don’t want to discuss the issues; they want to control the narrative and control the forum, much like the leftist mainstream media does on a global scale.

We, who tend to be more rational, have senses of humor and can’t help but apply that in situations like this. To us, the obsessed are very annoying but also hilarious.

So yes, while they screech or hiss insults, fawn all over what is obvious propaganda, display their one-track, Ukraine-obsessed minds and even post vicious death wishes at FReepers, we can’t help but laugh at this insanity. C’mon. How are we supposed to take people who say things like “I would rather the world end in nuclear war than yield to Little Pukin” seriously?

And since they’re so uptight and humorless for the most part, they get even angrier and more vicious when we laugh them off.

To us, zeepers are just annoying little sets of pixels. We don’t know you personally and we don’t really care what you think of us. We come on here to read news articles and discuss them with other, mostly conservative people or to discuss music, books or to have a good laugh on some of the humor threads. Zeepers come on here to spread propaganda and sow discontent with those who aren’t in lockstep with them.

Zeepers have largely become entertainment to those of us who aren’t so angry and obsessed. It’s human nature.

This is why the “never the twain shall meet” with us. Probably the best response to that is to “s it up,” as one zeeper said as he doubled down on a comment wishing for world destruction if Ukraine is defeated.

Actually, your quote from Macbeth makes a closer comparison to PUTIN.

When Macbeth first meets his wife after murdering Duncan, his hands are covered in blood factual revealing that Macbeth [PUTIN] is going to commit more violent acts.”

Russian society is becoming SO psychologically disturbed by what the Kremlin and Putin have done that the citizens are now reacting in horror of blood on their hands [assassinated opponents of PUTIN, their own sons in the Russian military as well as the military and civilian of Ukraine]

The hallucinations of Putin require him to continually wash his “hands” with propaganda. However, he is forever unable to clean them or find peace after his complete responsibility for so many multiple murders.

The Russian people cry, “What, will these hands ne’er be clean?”

Steve_Seattle: "I don’t know why you are so obsessed with promoting this war, but neither side stands for the Gospel, and don’t pretend that the Ukraine does.
It is moving towards the anti-Christian stance of the EU."

There's no reason I can think of to talk like that.
In fact, there are differences in the culture of Ukrainians, Russians and Americans, including their devotions to religion.

These numbers come from census data.

  1. Russians are 47% Christians, 45% no formal religion

  2. Americans are now 64% Christians, 30% no formal religion

  3. Ukrainians are 85% Christians, 12% no formal religion.
I would list two possible reasons for Ukrainians' higher religious devotions:

1) Having been repeatedly invaded by godless Soviets, Russians and Nazis, Ukrainians find solace in their faith in traditional Christianity.

2) Unlike the USA and Russia, Ukrainians are not as "citified" but more small towns and rural, meaning more likely to hold traditional beliefs.

Now, if you want to talk about corruptions of Ukrainian government officials, that's another story, but even here, by objective measures, Ukrainians have dramatically improved over the past 20+ years, while Russians have remained among the world's most corrupt countries and, sadly, the USA has gotten 10% worse than we were 20+ years ago.

Bottom line: it cannot be "moral" to use "Ukrainian corruption" as your excuse for letting Ukraine be consumed in the murderous embrace of "Mother Russia".

“Kremlin and Putin have done that the Russian citizens are now reacting in horror of blood on their hands.”

Perhaps, I am wrong in Comment #152
https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/4199403/posts?page=152#152

The reality of blood on their hands is actually more about PUTIN that just uses the Kremlin as just one of his blood-thirsty tools.

Steve_Seattle to SpeedyInTexas: "You must be a Democrat."

I can't speak for Speedy, but I have never voted for a Democrat in my now long-life, have always voted for the most conservative viable Republican candidates.

That word "conservative" has always been defined by men known as "Mr. Conservative" such as Ohio Senator Robert Taft in the early 1950s and Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater in the 1960s and Ronald Reagan in the 1970s and 1980s.
From the 1990s to his death in 2021, "Mr. Conservative" was Rush Limbaugh.

None of those men, those "Mr. Conservatives", were strict isolationists, not even Robert Taft under Pres. Eisenhower.
All supported America's allies, including NATO and the US Containment Policy towards communism in Asia & elsewhere.
All realized that American peace and prosperity depended entirely on the post-WWII world order that we were now critical to enforcing.

Even Donald Trump is far from an isolationist and fully understands that world peace and American prosperity depend on the strength of American leadership and the deterrence value of our military forces.

Since WWII it was always Democrats who shied away from such leadership, who hated "war mongering" and wanted to "give peace a chance", "make love not war", have "detent" with the Soviets and ignore the Chi-Com threats in Asia.

Sure, Democrats have always been quick to jump into wars, usually without a plan for victory, but then often just as quick to turn tail and run for the hills, surrendering as ignominiously as possible, with Vietnam and Afghanistan being prime examples.

"Stay the Course" is the Conservative Republican outlook.
"Hell no, we won't go" is Democrats saying what they truly believe.
