College football Week 13 winners and losers: A Saturday of scares leads to a still-muddy playoff picture

It was a Saturday of scares to end the 2023 college football regular season.

No. 2 Michigan held on to beat No. 3 Ohio State by six thanks to a late interception. No. 8 Alabama needed a miracle fourth-down conversion to avoid an upset by unranked Auburn. No. 4 Washington had to have a field goal as time expired to stay undefeated. No. 5 Florida State overcame a 12-0 deficit at Florida to move to 12-0.

Outside of No. 10 Louisville's loss to Kentucky, there weren't any surprising results at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings in Week 13. And that means the College Football Playoff picture is incredibly muddled with four undefeated teams and four teams with one loss at the top of the rankings. There's a lot to play for during conference championship weekend.

What has happened to the "Harbaugh Forever" signs that was popular in Columbus a few years ago? Why did Auburn only rush 2 and have the 3rd lineman spy Millroe on that 4th and goal play? Auburn was scared Millroe was going to scramble for 31 yards when there were 8 players playing pass defense? When was the last time a player was ejected for spitting from a game as one saw at The Swamp. Was disappointed Florida could not pull off the upset because I do not want to see Florida State without Jordan Travis int he playoff.

Auburn players, coaches, and fans are going to think about that play for a long, long time.

Fourth-and-goal from the 31 and all you had to do was keep them out of the end zone. Ugh....

He can't win even after getting the absurd suspension of his opposing coach. I spotted tOSU 10 points for that, and consider that was a big part of The Game this year. Shameful really what happened. The bIG commissioner needs to be fired for giving tOSU that very unfair competitive advantage. Couldn't help cheering as UM ran that last series down tOSU's throats, taking 7 minutes off the clock and all of tOSU's time outs.

I'd love to see the players and coaches turn their back on that commissioner next week at the trophy ceremony.

Why did Auburn only rush 2? Simple- its impossible to catch Milrose and you’re better off dropping 8 in coverage. Fact is:

1- that was a magnificent toss by Milrose

2- the CB who gave up the TD, James, was awful yesterday. Never got his head back around to track the pass in the air and early in the game gave up a 68yd touchdown reception on a blown coverage. Can’t blame the Auburn DC for any of that.

Dang- I quit watching the NFL years ago because of the woke crap- was hoping at least that college football might not be as bad.

Hard to find a sport or division these days that isn’t super woke- had to quit Nascar watching too because they went full moron, so,I began watching f-1, but now they are going woke too, though not nearly as bad, yet, as Nascar.

Michigan State scooped him up 20 minutes after the game was over.

Oregon State and Wash State are in trouble- no major conference alignment in the near future with the PAC 12 dissolving. All the top coaches/players/recruits from those teams will wave bye-bye in the next couple of weeks.
