Inside the monster Tennessee BUC-EE'S gas station that has 120 pumps, brisket SHRINE, snack counters as far as the eye can see...but nowhere to sit down to eat its treats

Buc-ee's gas stations have become a popular phenomenon for Americans who want to fill their tank but also grab a sweet treat for the road.

Here DailyMail.com takes a look inside the world's largest Buc-ee's station in Tennessee.

The 74,707-square-foot station in Sevierville features 120 gas pumps, a barbecue brisket counter with a 'Texas round-up station' and rows upon rows of beef jerky.

Since opening in June, the East Tennessee branch near Dollywood and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has drawn in Buc-ee's fans from around the country, as well as the curious but uninitiated.

'I think this one will put them all to shame,' Kentucky resident Collette told the Washington Post.

'It's exciting to be the largest one,' said Charlie Creech, the general manager of the Sevierville store.

'But I think they deserve to be the largest because they're in Texas.'

When the store opened in June the ribbon cutting celebration was attended by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and even Unites States Senators Bill Haggerty and Marsha Blackburn.

'We really are excited about what it's going to bring in terms of new things for people to see and do when they come to Sevierville' Amanda Marr of the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce said at the time.

'It's going to open us up for people who are just passing through the area to stop and enjoy a little taste of what our town has to offer,' she added.

One fan, Terry Deschler, told WVLT, that she had queued outside the Sevierville Buc'ees since 1:30am in the morning on opening day that started at 6am.

Wearing branded Buc'ees pyjamas and hat said 'I didn't want to miss anything, I wanted to be the first one here.

'I like the Buc'ees chocolate and the t-shirts' she added.

When I travel to Asheville I always stop at buc EE’s. It’s clean, has great shopping, good brisket sandwich, etc. But I am out of by NO seating: no chairs, no benches, nada. They can do better.

“...but nowhere to sit down to eat its treats”

That’s so they aren’t required to have bathrooms.

Are there any law differences between a place that just sells food and a restaurant with seating? The fault might lie in Nashville.

The family and I stopped there vacationing in the Smoky Mountains. I purchased a Buc-Ee’s 2023 Christmas thermal cup.

Speaking of jerky, I would like to hear Freeper opinions about types, qualities, favorites, and sources with a good price.

The idea is to stop, buy your stuff, and get the hell out and drive on, not to turn it into a restaurant.

Not a restaurant in some states, so that means different insurances and associated costs. I wouldn’t sit and eat myself since it’s just a big gas station — gas, food, drinks, and git is the way I travel. But I figure once the dust settles, there’ll be at least outdoor seating (using Maverik as an analog here).

The food would be more expensive if they had seating, so there’s that.

You have seats—IN YOUR CAR!

It’s like complaining about a drive-in.

I pulled into the Buc-ees just South of Richmond, KY a little over a year ago. It was so big and so crowded I didn’t even bother to stop and go in. I hate crowds and lines with a passion. Some might call me a misanthrope.

A trick I never heard of until your post.

In the 1970s I heard restrooms had lots of “Out of Order” signs to prevent drug addicts from shooting up and people from having sex in them. All, or nearly all, were still working fine.

Then “No Vacancy” on thousands of motels off interstates. But if you ask, and you look respectable, they said “oh, we have a vacancy after all.”

Another was a Korean nail salon located in the outer area inside a large supermarket-discount store which had one less than the illegal amount of marijuana plants under lights. (When that was illegal). Exactly one. So could pretend for assumed personal use misdemeanor.

EXACTLY - and each one that I went to actually did have bathrooms, but funny, they seemed to be ‘out of order’.

I hate eating standing up. The food never tastes good to me when I do.

No Buc-ees have seating AFAIK. If you want to sit down, you sit in your car in the parking lot. They use all their floor space for merchandise.

So I live near the other Tennessee Buc-ees in Crossville. I never go in but they do have cheap gas. Now if you ever wondered why they need 120 pumps? Every time I stop for gas they’ll be 6-8 cars near me and they are all empty. The gas pumps are closer to the front door than the parking so people just park at the pump. Sometimes you have to hunt for an empty pump because all the rest are filled with parked cars.

If we convert to 100% EVs, the equivalent capacity service station would require 1,200 chargers instead of 120 pumps. AND its own power plant out back.

Now THAT would be a sight to see.

Going into a Buc-ee's is literally a life changing event.

Where else can you get a jalapeno-flavored turkey drumstick wrapped in bacon?
